has anybody stayed here?: Portofino Inn & Suites
1831 South Harbor Blvd
Anaheim, CA 92802
UNITED STATES

is it a good hotel? is it far from disneyland? any comments on this hotel?

We have stayed at the Portofino in a King Kids Suite and it worked out nicely for our family. You walk into the Main room with the King bed and the Kids section is seperated with French Doors. They have a fold out sofa and bunk beds with a 2nd tv plus a small fridge and microwave. We liked the fact that our room was closer to the door than the kids. There was plenty of parking, the distance is further but is within our families walking distance. They also have the ART that picks up in front. Hope that helps!

We are staying there next month. It is a 10 minute walk to the parks. It's just off the corner of Harbor & Katella. Google earth doesn't pull up the adress correctly for some reason, so I had to put in an adjacent address to pull up correct walking directions to DLR (0.5 mile). We booked the kids suite.

we are only going to be 2 people and we were also going to the d23 expo...is the hotel far from the anaheim convention center?

can anyone give me the real website for this hotel because i googled it and theres like 20 different ones all claiming to be the hotles website

It is really close to the convention center (i think it's right behind it). We will be there that weekend too, but we aren't going to the expo.

We stayed there last week, and we really liked the room and the service. For us, the twice a day walk was too long in the heat over 5 days. It seemed like it would be fine the first day, but over the week it really took alot out of us. As much as we liked the hotel (the kids loved the bunk beds), we are planning to stay closer next time.

If you guys are in good shape and have older kids where you don't have to walk back and forth twice a day, I would recommend it.

Have a great time!

does anyone know what the child age range is for booking?

Anyone under the age of 18 is considered a child at the hotel and does not require an additional charges....

We will probably run into each other. Will be coming in 9/9 in the evening and leaving around 10ish a.m. on Saturday (short trip). We will be going to the Expo Thursday and the parks on Friday. Are you going to be at the Expo all 4 days? It is very close to the convention center, but I'm wondering myself about walking their, because the actual main entrance is further down on W. Convention Way.

As far as going to the parks, we may catch the ART in front of the hotel, but not sure how the route works, so wouldn't know what time to be there. :confused3

We stayed there in April for 6 nights and loved it :) it's not a hard walk at all you only cross Katella as ts on the same side of Harbour as DL :)

Just ask to be away from the elevator the noise was a bit much, excited kids :scared1:
but we would for sure stay there again but have been seduced by HoJo :rotfl2:

Did you have a fridge in your room? We will be in the kids suite and I'm wondering how big it really is. Is there a freezer section at all?

We had a kids suite :) you enter and the first room was a king size bed, nightstands with the bathroom a dresser and a tv you go thru French doors to the kids bunk beds and there is a sofa sleeper another tv, a frig, coffee maker and a micro :) and two tables; one table is a small kids size.
It's a great room very spacious :)
ETA; sorry forgot the freezer part
it's a small compartment it froze 4 water bottles. :thumbsup2

The kids' suite was nice and spacious and all 6 of us were very comfortable in it all week. There was a fridge and microwave, and the fridge was so cold that it froze everything that wasn't on the fridge door, lol. We loved the room.

I am so excited to have found your thread. I have been debating between HOJO and Portofino for my first DL vaca this Nov.

How much closer is HOJO to DL? What are your pros and cons. They both have kids suites, Hojo hasa better water play area (but will I be in it in Nov.?), Its closer ... yes?

portofino is further .. seems to also have a cool kids suite ... not too thrilled on the pool area (but again will I go in ) I do love that there is a subway, pizza and ihop right across the street.

What are your pros and cons? Whats there to eat around HOJO?

Thanx in advance.

I believe HOJO is one of the most recommended off-site hotels near Disneyland. My reason for picking Portofino was it was cheaper ($70/night) to stay there at the time when I booked and also close walk to the Conv. Center as we were attending the D23 Expo at the time as well. We walked everywhere and never needed a car, just between airport and hotel. One morning did IHOP across the street and next morning Denny's on way to parks.

My step-mom and I stayed in Sept in a regular room with 2 queen beds. Nothing super fancy, but was good enough for us to sleep and take showers. No complaints really, just had to ask for some rags. They had plenty of large and hand towels but no rags in our bathroom at the time, but did end up getting some.
