I was wondering if anyone has ever rented a cabana at Portofino for either pool. I would like to know what is included in the price and what is inside the cabana. Also how long do you have the cabana for and is tax charged as well?

Any info would be appreciated. Thank you! :goodvibes

We had gotten one a year or so ago. I don't remember what was or wasn't included. It is a small enclosure with a tv, a fridge and a table with chairs. There may be a few loungers as well. I think you get a fruit plate or something and maybe sodas.

Anyway, wouldn't do it again. I really didn't like it. The first day we had reserved it, they lost our ressie. My dad had just finished up chemo for his brain cancer and I really wanted something to keep him out of the sun. They felt bad and put us in a few loungers with umbrellas and gave us the fruit and sodas. We did get it the next day as promised.

They are way too close together. The family in the one next to us blasted their tv so loud we couldn't hear our own radio. They overflowed out of their cabana and took all the loungers out in front of them. It made it all annoying and not very relaxing.

So, this year we are just looking forward to an umbrella and a few loungers. We will be there in April so it won't be too hot. They should have them scattered around the pool instead of clumped in one spot.

:thumbsup2 We rented one at the Villa Pool and it was money well spent. There were 4 of us and we used it from 10 am until around 4 pm. It was good to take a break from the sun for awhile and to just relax. They supplied a fruit plate, bottled water, juice, and sodas. We didn't use the TV, but the fridge was nice to keep the drinks cold. The ceiling fan was a nice touch with the temps in the upper 90's.

Rent one and enjoy!

apparition,

I noticed you are from NY. So why the Romo picture? I'm a NJ transplant living out here in Colorado and a life long GIANTS fan. Don't tell me you are rooting for the Cowboys!

GO GIANTS!

So, completely off topic - where in NJ are you from? I am also a NJ transplant living in Colorado. Came here for CU and never left.

I grew up in Bergen County.

Yes, I am a Cowboy fan :goodvibes

Runs in the family, my dad has been a fan since he was a kid and I guess he brainwashed me. :lmao:

We also rented a cabana at the Villa Pool. It was totally worth the price for us. We were there in August and it was very hot. The cabana was ready (they set up towels for you on the loungers and fill the fridge with your drink choices) by 8:30 or 9 in the morning and you have it until the pool closes in the evening. It comes with 4 chairs and a table plus the loungers. We were a party of 4, so we got 4 loungers. There was plenty of room for all of us. In fact, my son was hot and tired, so he pulled one of the loungers into the cabana and slept while we played cards. We reserved the same one for 3 days. If we wanted to use the cabana earlier than 8:30, we just grabbed some towels that they leave at the attendants booth. If you get the club option, there is a discount on the cabana rental. The TV would go where the yellow towels are piled up. The fridge is in the cabinet.

Here is the fruit tray, minus a few bananas and strawberries.

If your looking for a quieter location, ask for one up a step, they will know what you mean. They are set back a little.

Servers will come around with food and drink orders, also the pool attendants came around with cold washclothes and extra water bottles. You can have them deliver the fruit tray at whatever time you want. This was the chicken ceasar. It easily fed two of us.

Yes, tax is charged on the fruit and drinks. Gratuity is charged on the whole thing. You do not have to rent the TV as it is an added charge.

We always get a cabana for our last day at the resort (Sat). The biggest advantage is the reserved space back away from the crowds walking/running by. The loungers in front work as a barricade to keep the riff-raff out. ;)

Last year, the Beach Pool cabanas were all taken so we got one at the Villa Pool. While it was very nice, the Villa pool was so dead, it didn't really seem necessary. Luckily, one opened up at the Beach Pool, so they moved all our stuff over there.

Don't think we would say it is worth it just for the shade and fruit - but it is well worth it to us at any pool that is busy.

YMMV.

Loved the villa cabana last August! Definately worth it- very relaxing but we enjoy the beach pool more. We loved the food at Splendido and they have covered tables right outside the pool that are nice to eat at while at the pool.
We are Jaguar fans here in Jacksonville but I like the Cowboys too- love T. Owens! Was a sad football week-end here!

Yea, sad for both of us. :sad1:

Now wait a minute...are you delighted because Dallas and Jax. lost?:rotfl2: I still like the Giants because of Coughlin and Packers because of Favre( I'm easy to please)...but David Garrard is THE nicest person in football.

No - just because Dallas lost and continued their playoff win drought. Only 5 or 6 teams have gone longer without winning a playoff game.

I'm rooting for anybody but the Patriots at this point.

You and me both...we tied them for the first half - does that count for anything?

OK, I promise - my last off topic post. Just had to pass along the funniest nickname that's come out of the "Mexican Vacation scandal" for Jessica Simpson:

Yoko Romo

For the record, as much as I dislike the Cowboys (primarily the ownership & TO), I actually like Romo and think he's getting a raw deal for this stupid vacation.

The whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. I wish the focus was on football and not this other garbage.

I agree. What Romo does in his free time is his own business- liked his post game interview- he is a real class act. And I love how TO stood up for him.
