Hi,

I have booked a Deluxe King room for 3 nights in November.
Please could anyone advise me what the difference is between the standard and deluxe rooms and which location is best to request?

Many thanks

The deluxe rooms generally have a small pull out couch as well as a separate shower that is outside the bathtub. The standard rooms do not have these. The deluxe rooms have real wooden trim around the ceiling where the standard room has a wallpaper faux wood border.

The west wing overlooking the lagoon is a nice location and close to the boat dock.

The gardenview/bayview rooms are 450 sq. ft vs. 490 sq. ft for the Deluxe room.

The other difference is the bathroom. The Deluxe rooms have 5 piece baths with a separate shower and tub whereas the regular rooms just have the tub/shower combination.

This is the configuration of the regular rooms:

Here is the floorplan of the deluxe rooms:

If you look at the photo of the deluxe room, you can see a little loveseat way in the corner. That pulls out to a twin size bed. In the standard room, that doesn't happen.

Have the deluxe rooms always had that? We stayed in a deluxe room in July of 2002 and I don't remember seeing a small loveseat. That would be great for our upcoming trip in October with my DH, DS17 and DS8. Instead, I went with a standard at HRH to save $$. I am a Loews First member, but I am only Blue at this time, so I am not guaranteed an upgrade (even though I apparently got it in 2002 for PBR). I am too tight to pay the $279. for the PBR upgrade - lol. I know you suggested Deluxe Queen at HRH for me earlier, but I just don't want to spend the money.

No, there are some deluxe rooms that don't have the little pullout. If you really want it, make sure you request it.

With deluxe you get a fax and dvd player. You also get a wooden louvred window that opens over the tub into the bedroom and a tv speaker in the bathroom.

Just returned from a stay at PBH. We booked a garden view room at the $239. aaa rate and got our Loews upgrade to a pool view deluxe room. Our room did NOT have a pull out sofa bed. The bathroom was huge......almost a waste of space imo. The seperate shower was a pain in the butt to use, and the "window" from the bathroom to the bedroom was wierd and made everyone uncomfortable.
Dont get me wrong.........the room was very upscale, nice, but it just seemed that they could have used some of that extra bathroom space for the main room. You could fit another bed inside the bathroom it was so big !!! Strange when you have to "go" to the bathroom.........you feel like you sitting in the middle of the whole room.:happytv:
Is it just me or was anyone else not really impressed with the pbh "deluxe" rooms?
Later........Syndrome

Sorry, hate to be different, but we LOVE the deluxe rooms :goodvibes . I much prefer having the separate shower. I can just hop in and shower and not have to climb in and stand in a bathtub. The ledge to put your shampoo/soap/razor is at standing height and I don't have to bend down to grab everything as I need it. Was yours not working well? Is this why it was a pain to use? And we Love, Love the double sinks in the bathroom. Makes getting ready so much easier and quicker.

The window between the rooms is a bit different, but I never really thought much about it. Guess I could take it or leave it.

Did you try the upholstered chair in the corner? The last two deluxes we had didn't have a true pull-out sofa. But the chair in the corner did pull out to a twin bed.

Anyway, the deluxe rooms are the main reason we stay at Portofino :teeth:

When it is just my husband and myself we prefer the deluxe room but when there are more people along the window between the rooms gets uncomfortable! You feel like you do not have any privacy when you " do your business!":rotfl2: I also like the shelf in the corner instead of the separate shower- I did not like the separate shower we had- both times it leaked all over the bathroom floor.
