I'm giddy and I have to share this.

I've been waiting for JetBlue to release their "direct" flights from Portland to Orlando for the month of June.

They did - TODAY!

$217 tax and fees included roundtrip.

3 hours and 10 minutes. One flight - no changing airplanes.

Yee-haw.

Great flight and great price!! If only it was cheaper to fly out of Freddy!

Nice deal! We flew to New Orleans from Bangor once.. Had to go to Boston then Charlotte then got to NO. LOOOOng flight! I got a direct flight out of Detroit for this next trip..1 connection on the way back. It's exciting to find those direct flights!!

I'm SO happy about the direct flights. Last trip in December the connecting flights really wore me down.. especially the 90 minute to 2.5 hour holdover at JFK.

I can't complain tho, that ticket in December was even cheaper! That was only $178.10 !!!

I'm willing to pay the extra.. even tho there will probably be a seat sale between now and June .. I like knowing I got the direct flight, I have seat 3B there and back .. and it's taken care of..

Kroy: I couldn't find a cheaper flight from Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton or even Halifax. They were all MUCH higher.. (double or more). Driving to Portland from Freddy is about 4.5 hours.. but I'll save way more than 220$ on the airfare and have a direct flight .. I can't say no to that.

Now, I am patiently waiting for end of November/ first of December. I want a direct flight too!

Lucky you.... I'm flying out of Portland in just 26 days with Jetblue and unfortunately no direct flight. We leave at 4:20 pm and arrive at 12:30 am:crazy2: The price was right.:thumbsup2 $820 for three of us return.

Gosh there are a lot of Freddy Beach people on this forum! Thanks for the tip Canadian Guy - we will be flying out of Maine in September. I will have to check to see if Jetblue suits us.

I am so jealous! I really wanted a direct flight for our april trip but I got us tix for $220 with air tran out of portland..only one connection in baltimore and its only an hour layover... which is either going to be a blessing or a curse... lol

It will sure be an improvement over driving... which is what we originally planned to do!!!

It's exciting to see another option to fly to Orlando. But in reading the fine pint on ticket prices, I came across the following:

General Travel
All fares are per person, one-way and do not include possible Passenger Facility Charges (PFC) of up to $9 USD each way, Security Fees of up to $5 USD each way, Federal Segment Tax per each U.S. domestic segment (segment is defined as a take-off and landing) of $3.30 USD per segment, U.S. Departure tax of up to $14.50 each way and international fees and taxes of up to $56.95 each way.

Has anyone whose flown JetBlue ever been charged these additional fees?

That is interesting..... I have a problem with fine print. Seems that I forget to read it.:scared1: I guess I'll find out about extras when I fly in only 25 more days:woohoo:

We are currently looking at airfares from Moncton, Halifax, etc for our August trip. We have a group of 18, so Westjet offered us a whopping $50 off each ticket since we are a large group!:rotfl2: The price was still, for my family of 4, $3200!!!! We are now looking at Bangor or Portland. We can get out of Portland on AirTran for $1000 for the four of us, Bangor is about $1800. I will have to check JetBlue.

If only it wasn't such a long drive home!

We have tickets on Delta out of Bangor in August. One stop in Boston and we paid $153 return (about $190 with fees).

That is a great rate! How long ago did you book those? We have flown on Delta in the past and have always got good rates. Unfortunately, the cheapest Delta flight right now is $450 return from Bangor!

Willise you dont' say -- where abouts are you?

We booked in December. We travel on the 5th of August and I can still see a rate of 249 (290 with fees) for that day. I would keep checking if I were you.

I am in Moncton. So it would be about 6-7 hours to Portland, I think.

Our dates are Aug 16-30, so I guess I will keep checking. Maybe the fact that it is a Saturday departure drives up the price.:confused3

I think it is the Saturday departure. If you moved to Sunday you would save about $100 per ticket.

ps. I am originally from Moncton as well.

Saturday and Sunday departures can easily be 100$ or MORE increased cost per ticket.

If you can move that around.. try to do that .. you'll save some $$$.

Moncton to Portland is ... (presuming you go thru Houlton - and I would) .. about 6.25 hours.

Make sure you take the I-295 shortcut around Gardiner which cuts off about 25 minutes and most of the Maine Turnpike.
