PortAventura

I haven't been, personally, but my hairdresser went with her DH and 7 year old DS last year.
They loved it but have never been to Florida so not sure how it compares

I went back in 1999 to see Paco Pena, before it expanded (I think they have a water park and hotels there now that weren't there when I was), and absolutely loved it!

It's divided into different lands, and the theming's really detailed, quite similar to Disney and much nicer than I'd expected. The rides were a lot of fun, although I don't remember there being a lot for smaller children.

I'd definatley recommend visiting it!

We liked the park and liked the on site hotels. We drove to Spain (by ferry to Bilbao) and just checked into the hotel without booking. We stayed three nights. We especially liked that the park stayed open until midnight. It was not originally owned by Universal Studios and is nothing like Universal Studios in Florida or Hollywood. There are lots of restaurants in the park and at the hotels. The beach is not far away either.

Hope you enjoy

We cant really afford to go to WDW again next year and this was an alternative we were looking at...so any other opinions would be great!! :sunny:

It would not keep you busy for two weeks. There is another theme park in Benidorm too and Warner Bros world in Madrid. We drove 2,000 miles round Spain in 2003 and drove to Gibralta as well. It made a nice change from WDW. Barcelona is not far from Salou which is closest resort to PortAventura. We will probably do this drive again but not until our DD has left school as it was very busy during the school holidays and we had booked no hotels as the plan was to just check in where and whenever we felt. We spent 10 hours driving around the Costa Del Sol trying to find a room!!

Hope you all have a great time and let us know what you decide.

well... the reason i was asking is i found a luxary coach company (i don't drive) who do holidays to spain... and will take you to spain for two weeks for like £300, plus £40 for PortAventura and.... duh duh duuhhhhh... if you pay an extra £49 your stop over hotel on the way there is the Cheyenne @ DLRP and you get a day in the parks! woot woot!... i wouldn't want to leave though i guess...
