Portable toilet seats

We're in the middle of PT our 2.5yr old and are headed down to WDW in a few weeks. I wanted some opinions on those portable toilet seats that you put over a regular seat so that the kid can fit on it right. Have any of you used ones? Which one and what did you like/dislike about it?
I'd like to get one well in advance to let DS get used to using it before we head down there. He doesn't use one right now, just goes in his regular potty (and hates travel potties)

Oh, also, I will be taking some post its down with me, just in case this time the toilets freak him out. (they haven't so far, but he wasn't using them then).
Some of you might say that we should have just waited to go down, that wasn't an option. We've had this trip planned for months (and have already been on and off PTing for months too) and we travel a lot so we are always on the go and never have months where we are able to just stay put.

Just have him get used to your toilet. My kids could use one at 2 1/2, and it was actually better for my boys, because they could easily lean forward, and not have to hold it down.

We went to Disney right after our DD became potty trained and I had bought this one:

I loved that it was cushioned and folded up in its own travel bag and DD liked it. Heck there were several times when we were on a road trip that we would have to stop for bathroom breaks and the only bathroom for miles would not be the cleanest and we all used it (if someone had to sit). I highly recommend it. The only drawback to it is that when folded it is slightly bulky but I just kept it in the stroller and got it out when needed.

someone in another tread skipped the portables as then you put it in a bag and unless you clean it each time, it defeats teh purpose..

i'd say get disposable seat covers that wrap around the edges

Also, if you are potty training, this piddle pad is a lifesaver if they ever have an accident in the carseat.

We used the portable seat top thing when DD was JUST starting PTing (she was early, so this was 17ish months) because otherwise she'd fall through the seat too easily. We forgot it a few times so we just held her a little tighter and she just went a little quicker because she didn't feel as comfy, but it was no big deal. IMO, if your child is comfortable on a regular seat, I think they're just not worth it to bring around unless you NEED it.

As a side note, DD's PTing took awhile (she was young, we weren't rushing anything at all, etc), so when we went to WDW at 22ish months, she was trained as long as we'd remind her, but we didn't fully trust her yet to tell us when she had to go. Anyway, we made a big deal that she needed to tell us as SOON as she needed to go so we'd have time to find a potty, and the trip was a big SUCCESS in her potty training! She had one accident (while she was napping), but other than that she actually did a BETTER job at letting us know in time so she wouldn't miss out on anything (granted, we went often anyway, I was 7ish months pregnant ), but I'm hoping for you that all goes well!!

If your DS isn't using a potty seat at home, don't bother getting a portable one for WDW. You can get kids' paper/disposable seat covers that go on the toilet seats to keep it clean. I bought some at Babies R Us before our trip and they worked fine.

Don't start anything new and why would you want to drag something like that around all day at Disney. The idea with potty training a child is to carry less into the park not more!!!! Get them used to public bathrooms early it will make your life easier for the long run.

Never used anything at all with any of mine, and they held on to the side, etc and all grew up without ever catching anything or any other ill effects. In fact my 11 yr old son just had an antibiotic for strep and it is only the 2nd time he has ever had to take one.

We use one of the folding potty seats for when we are out with our daughter. Our boys have also used it when they needed to go #2. I find it very convienent, not bulky and does not take up too much room. It folds in so that the parts that touch the seat touch each other and the parts that touch the child are to the outside so I don't have a contamination issue with it. We carry it around in a freezer bag - the bag that came with it didn't last long - so if you get one you might want to make sure you have a back-up bag for storage. I would recommend this for a child who doesn't like public pottys.

Sorry, I wasn't too clear. He uses a regular potty at home, not the actual toilet. Right now it actually lives in the living room so that he can run to it asap.
After just under a week we went accident free today! Woo Hoo! He is now 32 months and we had tried PTing before but he wasn't fully ready.

We do use the piddle pads for the car. I love them!
