Portable Scooter Weight/Battery Life Concern

Have rented from Buena Vista, been very satisfied with the Standard. This trip we will be at SSR and will have SUV. Plan was to take my wheelchair in car and rent Park Scooters. The portable appears be a much better idea. Have a few concerns, noted the portable scooter can carry 300#, was assured by the sales rep, battery last 5 hours or more on full charge. I use a Fold N Go and no way will it handle that even with a new battery. I am not a small person, 5'10, 166#. Has anyone used this scooter (assume Pride as that is what the Standard was)? Pros/cons to help me make a decision. Is it easy to assemble and take apart? Thoughts on other scooter rental companies with different brand scooters?

We rented Go Go Traveler Elite for same height and weight no problems. The battery was extended 1800 and never ran down. Lifting the seat off made it easier to lift into the car. Just lay the steering arm down. The battery comes off too if too heavy, but we were fine two people grabbing each end and lifting.
The rental had stow nd go seat so we just lifted the entire thing in.

Nice for independance around the resorts and getting to the vehicles.

My husband goes 250 pounds and he's 5ft. 10 inches. He has used the go go scooter many times without any problems. I will say we are not in the parks for more than 8 hours a day. He did not use the scooter too much around the resort.

You do need to be diligent and shut the scooter off every chance you get. If you are watching a parade, show, or fireworks shut the scooter off. If there's a long wait in ride queues he has shut the scooter off.

You need to make sure you charge up the battery every day. If you take a break back at the resort mid day then it might not be a bad idea to charge your battery then, as well.

There are videos on u-tube that can show you how the scooter comes apart and goes together. If you can go to a local mobility store you can see how this is done live; they will be happy to show you.

We are older and hubby and I can manage taking the scooter in and out of the trunk of our car. The battery is the heaviest and goes around 37 pounds, but it has a nice handle on it. The base of the unit is a little awkward; because, it's big, but with two people it's very manageable. I know from these boards there are some that can do this by themselves, but it's easier with two people. My husband has done it by himself a few times and he's much happier with help.

Appreciate your comments, made it an informed easy decision, portable scooter will be waiting for me in November at SSR. It's the independence I strive for.

You will love the independence! Have a worry free fun time.
