I saw on e-bay and then did a search on Google on portable refridgerators. They have a fridge that plugs right into you cigeratte lighter in you car and also will plug into normal household current. Has anyone every used one? They say it will hold about 6 cans of soda and water. It also says it will cool to 40 deg F. or will even warm stuff to 149 deg F. Do they really work? We will be at WDW for 2 weeks and the thought of renting a fridge at 12.oo a day seems high  Looks like you can get one of these fridges for around $75.00. It would be nice for the drive down as well, but then again only if they work.... So if you have one do you recommend it?

We have an older one that is made by Igloo. We use it for road trips and when hotels don't have a fridge. Ours is a bit noisy when running, so we have had to put it in the closet and it still bugged me when trying to sleep. I don't know if the newer ones are more quiet, but it is something you need to find out if you are a light sleeper like me.

I've seen the little ones that hold 6 cans on sale at Taget for $29.....larger ones for $49 and up.

If I needed a frig for a 2 week stay...I would go to Wal-Mart there and buy a dorm-type frig for about $60 or so and use that...and then leave it, or better yet..find another Dis person to pass it on to.

it sounds like an electric cooler not a refrigerator. There is a big difference. However an electric cooler will work well in a hotel room. We use our Colemean Electric cooler on vacation.

I wouldn't bohter with a dorm refrigerator. It won't work in the car and will weigh much more than an electric cooler.
The one you describe sound like the small one we have in the van all of the time. Post a link and I'll let you know if it is the same type.

We bought the Coleman electric cooler for our trip to CBR in June and absolutely loved it!!! We payed $75.00 at Walmart.

We always save money on food by taking lunch meats, pasta, salad mix and dressings. We fit all of this and stacked canned drinks and juice boxes in the bottom.

In the van we sat the cooler horizontally, then when we got to CBR we sat the cooler upright like a fridge. It has a divider, so we put the meats up top and drinks on bottom. I love this thing!!!

Oh, and it is very quiet. If the room temp gets too cold there may be a little ice that forms inside, but all I did was get a hot washcloth and wipe the ice off.;)

I got one that looks like a doll size refrig at CVS. It came with an adapter for the car it was only $29.00. I got the sodas cool before we left on our trip and it work well in the car. I used it in the hotel room with room temp soda and it worked okay too. It doesn't hold more than a six pack of soda though.

We got one on our last trip over about a month ago
it was about $79.00 with tax at wal-mart here in town.

We were going to rent one but for 12.00 a day + tax for 7 days
I just went and got one so we can take it over on our next trip
it came in real handy for holding lunch meats & drinks & stuff.

I recently purchased the one Meriweather spoke of at Target. It was on sale for $30 and then another $15 for the A/C adapter. I use it in the car when I pick up something small that has to be refrigerated because I'm not going straight home. I actually bought it with the intention of taking it with us for our WL stay. It is small but handy for a sandwich, some little milk cartons and little yogurts for my dd. (it also has a "hot" option, but I probably won't use that)

I forget the brand name, I'd have to check it. But, they do have a larger size for about $60 or $70.

When I first started looking I only could find the more expensive one for $50 plus another $40 for the a/c plug for almost the same size. Thought that was too pricey. The one LuvDisney was talking about looks great. I'd go and check out Walmart and if you have a Target local, check there too.

We camp a lot and know a lot of people who use those electric coolers. Most people are very happy with them, but one thing to keep in mind is that they may not always work well if you use it outside. They're not designed to go more than a certain number of degrees (I think it's about 50) below the ambient temperature. In room temperature, that's fine. Camping in 95+ plus degree weather, it's not. I'm sure it would be great for soft drinks and things in your hotel room, but you may not be able to use it absolutely everywhere.

Nope, Neither electric cooler we have is like that one in the link. For a small one I love ours from target. It will fit between the seat of a minivan and has built in cup holders.

When we bought our large one at Wal Mart it came with the electric adapter. The other brand seemed cheaper by $15 but the electric adapter for it was 25 or 30.

I found some links that might help

http://www.newsearching.com/camping_cooler/Car_Cooler_Warmer.html ... this is not the same brand we have and appears to be a little smaller.

heres the walmart link for the coleman one we have http://www.walmart.com/catalog/prod...uct_id=895623&sourceid=0100000030140612902498

heres another small one but still not the brand we have

finally here is the one we keep in the van all of the time. I use it a lot. http://www.target.com/common/catalog/product.jhtml?prodid=78524&navAction=jump&navCount=1

I bought ours on sale for 39 I believe.
