Hey, I can't remember...is there a way to hook your portable DVD player to the t.v. in the cabins? I never had one on my previous sailings, so I never looked for the little rca plugs on the t.v. in there. Anyone know?
Im pretty sure they dont have the plugs because I was looking for a place to plug my videocamera in so we could watch what we had done so far and we couldnt find them.
We took a PS2 and hooked it into the back of a TV in our cabin. We splurged and stayed in a Cat 3 this time but I think the other tVs should have the RCA plugs in the back too. Of course I have been wrong before and it will happen again.
I think the TV hookups are kinda like the platform beds and the beverage coolers...sadly all are not created equal. My husband is an AV specialist for a living, and we definitely did not have any extra inputs anywhere on our TV for the camera. Now, had we been at home and he had all of his geek stuff, he could have rigged up an adapter and taken the coax cable out and figured something out, but in the middle of the ocean, we were out of luck. Of course, if you have to be out of luck, DCL is a fabulous place to do it!
I think you can buy an adapter for TV's that don't have the correct plugs. I asked at Wal-Mart and the clerk showed it to me. It was fairly expensive though as I remember, and he sounded abit unsure of himself so I didn't buy it.
Shouldn't DCL have an AV department on staff? Most Hotels do. If you have a TV problem while on the ship I would think that someone would be called to fix it. They also might have the extra cables to hook you up or at least someone who knows how.
I've never been in a higher number than a cat 5 and none of the tv's have had any kid of video connector, back, side or otherwise. May be a cat 3 and above tv only.
