portable dvd player for trip?

We have a DVD player in our Tahoe so the kids are used to TV in the car. We just got back from a trip to Washington DC and borrowed my brother's DVD player for the flight.... only to discover that the battery didn't hold a charge! Had to entertain the kids for 5 hours, and that was NOT fun, so my advice is to definitely buy it! We bought a cheap leatherette case at Walmart and it was great for holding it and all the straps and accessories. We wound up searching out an electronics store and buying a new one while we were in DC (figured we'd use it on future vacations anyway), so we had a battery operated player for our flight home! Things to look for: A/V cables to connect it to your hotel room TV, remote control if you're going to use it in your room, car cigarette lighter adapter, and more than one headphone jack if you have more than one kid.

OK, well I just took the plunge and ordered from the Costco.com site the Mintek 7" portable DVD. It comes with the carrying case, 2 headphones, car adapter, remote control, and rechargable lithium battery for $250 with shipping. I hope it is good. i always get nervous ordering online but I know I won't have time to go for a while and I did not want to miss on it. I also took the plunge and made ressies for June 15-19. Short trip. We ususally don't go during the summer because of crowds and heat and that our fla res passes are blacked out but this year we are upgrading to APs and we ordered the AP from Universal. Just a wild and crazy year for us. Wish us luck

OH
I know this will probably sound dumb but does the Mintek from Costco come with a charger for the battery? I know the battery is rechargeable but how do you do it?

Thanks

We also just purchased the Mintek from Costco. WE love it. It came with everything that we needed. Headphones, car charger, remote, battery and carrying case. No extra purchases involved. And there we offering a $20.00 mail in rebate. Awsome deal on a great DVD player.

I gave in and bought a Portable DVD player ... living in NYC we do not have a Wal*Mart nearby, but I took the hour long drive out to Long Island and took the plunge. Boy I am SURE GLAD we did!!! We got a Dual Screen (6.2" each screen) Portable DVD Player. We have three children and this thing is AMAZING!!!!! We don't want to wear out the 'novelty of it' before our Road Trip at the end of this month to FL from NYC, so we only used it twice so far. BUT ... here is the GREAT PART, not only can you play the same movie on both screens (also adapters for 4 headsets/earjacks), you can play PlayStation or other Video Games on one screen and watch a movie on the other!!! My dh has a PlayStation2 and that one is also a DVD Player, sooooo they can watch TWO movies too!!!! Okay, so I have three kids, I am SURE someone is going to gripe, but hey, it could be worse, we could have them staring at each other or doing nothing!!! LOL Luckily, they are all into the same movies and such so it shouldnt be an issue (yet! LOL). It's a DuraBrand with car adapter, battery & charger, case, the works! And it was only $278 on sale!!!! WE LOVE IT!!!!!
