Mine has been dead for about a year now and even though I'm a single person, I just hate the clutter of my few dishes in the sink or drying on the counter. I really want a new dishwasher! But I am having troubles finding a reasonably priced portable with decent reviews. GE seems to have the corner on this market and I see no better than 3 out of 5 stars. Does anyone have any ideas?

It's really too bad that the portable ones are SO much more than the built-in ones. I don't even need it to be portable as I have a permanent water source behind the existing dishwasher. I just need it to be covered as I don't have a counter/cabinet around it. But I'm afraid that building or buying a cabinet to cover it will bring me back up to the cost of a portable one.

Any ideas out there? Does anyone have one they actually like?

Thanks!

We used to have a GE, it was a good dishwasher (I think it cost 600, but that was quite a few years ago), but we bought a house that had a built in already installed so we sold it (the portable) for pretty cheap.

I have been going back and forth on buying a portable dishwasher.

After haveing a built in for 8 years not having one now just stinks.

We have a Kenmore that we bought at Sears about 7 years ago. We haven't had any major issues with it. Recently a couple of the little prongs that hold the dishes in broke off but other then that, nothing. It does a nice job cleaning the dishes. We tend to run it around bedtime a lot because it is rather loud.

I have a GE Nautilus in my basement I used for 6 months before we moved to a house with a DW. Honestly, my GE worked better (and I'm being dead serious) than the $1000 Bosch DW I've been using for the past 6 years. My dishes always came out crystal clear/clean and we didn't have any leaks. Unfortunately, I don't think they make the Nautilus anymore. I paid $450 for it 6.5 years ago. I'd love to sell it..so check Craig's list and other resale places. People move all the time and I'm sure there are a lot of unneeded portables sitting in basements.
