Portable Cell Phone Charger! Yay!

After my last trip to WDW in December, I swore I'd never go without a portable cell phone charger again. Using the app, taking pictures, and keeping tabs on my DD wore my battery down quick! There are some charging spots but not enough and who want to sit and wait?? Ugh!
Anyway, I've been looking and I saw some for $20 or $30 which is fine but I scored an Emerson rapid USB charger at Big Lots for $10! WooHoo! Works great. My iPhone 4s battery was about 5% and I plugged it in 10 minutes ago and it's 32%.
No more annoying car charger! My adapter is in a weird spot and my phone ends up in the floor every time. Anyway, heading back in May and I am all set!

I bought one on amazon for $30 (Jockery brand) and it was amazing to have it! I had been a few months before that and had been seeking out plugs by lunchtime. Instead, this not only charged up my iPhone multiple times, but my brother used it for his Samsung phone too. I use it on a pretty regular basis now. An external cell charger is one of the top things I recommend that aren't your "normal" park items!

I end up using my portable charger every time I'm in the parks. Between using my phone as my camera and looking at the line app a few hundred times a day my battery is always dead by about 6pm.

The portable chargers are awesome!

I have an Android phone and found it hard to use for MDX, very slow. I tried bringing my iPod and it was great, it also saved my phone battery for other things.

I have a larger external charger from Gorilla Gadgets (16,800 mAh) that will charge my iPad and phone off one charge. I bought it for mainly in case of power outages in storms.

I got one that has a built-in flashlight, should come in handy for some of the dark loading/unloading areas :)

I had so much dead battery drama last time! It was the only part of the trip that bothered me. I will also be bringing several back up charging cables. The iphone cables break so easily. I broke 2 last time. I should be more gentle with them but that's not me ;)
The one I got is small enough to fit into my pocket too so I don't have to break my "no purse" rule in the parks. In my regular life, I am chained to my purse so it's very liberating, lol.

We just got a HALO 6000 mAh Portable Charger from QVC a couple of weeks ago. SO far I love mine. It works great. I carry it in my purse everyday just in case. Have used already for my Kindle HD and LG cell phone charging on the go. The only negative on mine is it is a little bulky. Halo has slimmer models, but I was concerned they wouldn't have the 'umph' I needed for my Kindle.

I used to carry a Mophie Powerstation, but it doesn't hold much charge anymore after about 3 years of heavy use, which I can't complain about. I replaced it with an Anker model that has a built-in micro-USB cable. I've had it about a year and it's holding up okay so far.

I should probably look into getting a better quality back up like the Morphie. The Emerson is good but I wonder if it will be enough to charge more than once without being recharged. That will probably come back to bite me.
I'm taking it on a business trip a few weeks before our Disney trip so I guess we'll see.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I thought I was gonna get away cheap with my $10 charger but it only charged my phone to 67% then it was beat. I have had it plugged into the wall for 4.5 hours and it's still not fully charged. That ain't gonna cut it.
It will probably be fine for my DD's iPod so I'm going to give it to her and get one of the ones you all mentioned. Glad I did a test run! I would have been one unhappy Mouseketeer.

This is the one I have. It's 15,000 mAh, and my phone's battery is 2,100 mAh, so I should get a handful of charges out of it before I have to recharge the backup. Plus it has a built in LED flashlight. :)

Anker Portable Battery Charger

$750!!:scared1: Forget the chargers, I could buy several back up phones or ipods for that price!

I'm wondering if I will need a back up charger for my itouch in the parks. Don't know how much it will get used checking MDE on it. Just not sure what to expect.

If you switch the color to black, you might like the price better. :)

Yeah, I'm not sure why the link defaulted to the white, but I certainly didn't pay $750 for it lol. I got the black one and it was $50. I go to parks fairly often, plus various races, so being without power will be a thing of the past. :)

I am glad for this post. I have been wanting to get one and thanks to the suggestions I was able to get a good deal on amazon on a Anker. Thank you!:cool1: I would have forgotten I needed one until my next trip like I normally do if not lol
