Port upgrade questions

We've sailed before, but never thought about changing our rooms or upgrading at the port, so this may be a stupid question....

We have two connecting "giant porthole" (as my DS likes to call them) rooms. 8C on a 7 day in October. We were just discussing that it would be nice to have a verandah in at least one room. We are past PIF with rooms assigned. I'm assuming we can't change our rooms at this point? Is there any chance that we would be able to upgrade at the port to two connecting verandahs?

You can change your room now, if you wish. You will be paying the difference in price (on the day you originally booked) from what you have to what you are upgrading to.

It may be possible to upgrade at the port. If so, the price difference will be less than if you upgrade now. But, getting connecting rooms may be difficult.
