We are thinking about a vacation there next Feb. Out neighbor has a friend that has been there and said it was nice.I was looking up accomodations and found a really nice place.I was just looking for opinions.
We are also considering moving to Fl. in a few years. We are more interested in the west coast(Sarasota/St.petersburg area). There is a Veterans Hospital in St.Petersburg that my DH is really interested in working at.He's a Psych RN.I was looking at real estate in the Port St.Lucie area though and you can get a TON for your money.

Port St. Lucie is in a beautiful area of Florida. In-between Stuart and Vero, this area is now beginning to experience a lot of new development. I'm betting you'll see the real estate prices start to rise shortly. Of course, real estate on the water (Hutchinson Island in particular) is always more costly than anything that is inland. I'm not sure how much tourist activity there is right in Port St. Lucie since I've always been in Stuart or Vero. But, you can catch the Mets Spring Training! :)

Here's a link to a new upscale development that is being built in Port St. Lucie. It'll give you a feel for the area.

I've been many times to PSL area and it is very nice. Just wondering what place you found to stay that was very nice. We stayed at a Holiday Inn right on US 1 that was ok, but nothing special. I do think the beaches there are beautiful and you have so many choices starting in Ft. Pierce to the north then going south to Jensen Beach and Stuart. One of our favorite beaches is called "Bathtub Reef" in Stuart (maybe 15-30 mins from PSl). A reef there creates a stretch of shallow water along the shore that is great for kids. No big waves, just great clear warm water!

I have been there tons of times. I used to live North of Vero. It is a nice area. I am not sure I would choose it as a vacation destination. I could think of many more exciting places in FL to visit, but if you are interested in a quiet beach vacation, then I guess it would be nice. There is a nice mall in Jensen Beach (it is located on US-1), and also further south in West Palm called the Gardens (it is off of I-95 on PGA Blvd). The Palm Beach mall isn't spectacular, so you can pass on it! There are many nice restaurants in the area. A little north (Ft Pierce) and you can visit the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute where you can take tours, the UDT-Seal Museum, the FPL Energy Encouter, there are also dolphin/manatee/whale cruises you can take. Thomas J White stadium is the home of the New York Mets spring training, so if that interests you, or you will be their during training games, you might want to go see them. Of course Vero Beach is home to the "only" real baseball team's spring training---the Dodgers!! Plus you never know what celebrities you may spot at spring training games. I have gotten many autographs from some "big" names in baseball, older players who are retired. Plus I have a great pic of Freddie Prinze Jr, when he was at a spring training Dodgers game!!

Nice area, you get a bang for your buck, but jobs are another thing. I have a friend whose parents live in Pt. St. Lucie but work at the very end of the county! A REAL ride!!!

Thanks guys!!I'll look into it a little more!

I would not personally choice PSL for a vacation destination.
Not what I would call a fancy town.:)
