Port saint lucie to cape canaveral

My husband is going to the NY Mets Fantasy Camp for a week in January. We are going to tag along, flying into West Palm Beach. He will rent a car and me and the 3 kids will stay 2 days before GOING ON THE DISNEY WONDER!!!!! What is the best way to get from Port St. Lucie to Port Canaveral. We are staying overnight at the Residence Inn at Cape Canaveral. Has anyone ever travelled from this area to the Port, by car service???? I could rent a car but I would have to rent it at the airport in West Palm when we fly in and hold onto for like three days or even more before getting on the boat and we really don't need it. Just need to get to the SHIP!!!!! I've done FL Tours and other companies from Orlando to the Port but never did this type of pre-cruise stay before so I am completely unfamiliar with the territory. Any advice from locals or fellow Fantasy Campers would be helpful. Much thanks

Budget has an office in PSL. You can rent the car and drive to the Port Canaveral Budget office. The PSL office offers free pickup service, and I believe the PC office has a shuttle to the port.
