Hello,
Long time member, though it has been a VERY long time since I have posted. We have finally decided to make our first trip to Disney (always canceled in the past, too close to do so this time). I was wondering if there were any Port Orleans reviews out there? It really isn't going to matter too much, as the rest of the moderates are booked and we don't want to pay for the deluxes at this time. Just wondering what the thoughts of PO are...
Thanks,
Batty...

We were there (PORS) in March and loved it. We stayed in AB27 along the river and a quick hop from the pool and from the main building and bus stop. Everything, including the room and mousekeeping was excellent. The bus transportation was great and was only crowded a couple of times. The boat to DTD was a great bonus.

I stayed there in 2002 and really liked it. The southern mansion theme is very nice, and the grounds are very polished and feel a little more upscale than the other moderates. Since it's Disney, everything's very nice and clean, which is to be expected. I went in May, and the flowers on the property were beautiful, and very romantic.

Drawbacks to staying there are that it isn't as kid friendly as some of the other resorts. The buildings are very adult and plain looking, and while they're very nice, they aren't as flashy or themey as places like Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach are. Also, I found it to be a long walk to the main "clubhouse" and check-in area, and the pool isn't anything special when compared to other resorts.

In terms of location, Port Orleans is close to Downtown Disney. In fact, you can take a boat there, which we did one night and was a ton of fun. It was nice to just relax on the water after a long night at Disney Quest. However, it's a little farther from the parks than Coronado was, where we stayed on our last trip.

Have fun and let me know how you like it!

We stayed at PORS a few years ago, staying in the mansions. it is a beautiful resort, loved the pools, the restaurants, the fact that we could use the pools at either resort. Enjoyed taking the boat to DTD. However, I HATED the transportation to the parks. The buses always stoped at POFQ first, so we often had no seats. One time the bus driver got confused and when we were coming back from the AK, he drove to the Dolphin. It took a bit of convincing to tell him that none of the people on the bus wanted to be at the Dolphin. Other than the transportation, the resort was great.

We have stayed at POR twice, one trip was just last month. We all love it so much there. My senior citizen parents, my 34 yr old self, and my two kids 7 and 10 all feel like it's home. We love the quiet serene Tom Sawyer-ish feel to the resort. We love the boat ride to DTD. We love that we can use both Ole Man Island pool and the pool at POFQ. Both pools are wonderful. We love Boatwrights, especially for breakfast. We love Bob Jackson, the piano man in the River Roost Lounge at POR (yes it's a lounge...yes it's for the whole family my kids LOVED him). There isn't a bad thing I can say about POR. We absolutely love it!

There is a specific location for POR and POFQ I have been able to obtain so much useful info about the resort there. Hope this helps

Batty!
Which one have you reserved: POR or POFQ? My DW and I have stayed at both and consider the PO resorts to be two of our favorites. At POR, I prefer the AB section while she prefers the Mansions. That doesn't really matter at POFQ since it is small and the theme is the same throughout the resort. POFQ does not have a full service restaurant so you must walk or take the boat to POR for Boatwright's. Both resorts have pretty good food courts although many people prefer POFQ's over POR's. Both resorts share the boat to DTD. The pool at POFQ is more colorful and the spa is more secluded than the one at POR but we also enjoy the pool and spa at POR. POR has fishing. Both resorts offer a horse drawn carriage ride for $30/30 minutes. POR has Bob "The Piano Man" Jackson in the River Roost Lounge! :cool1:
Just so you know, it is only a 10 minute or so walk between the main buildings of the 2 resorts; a very nice walk along the Sassagoula River.
Here are some photos from our last two trips:

Have a great trip!

We stayed there back in 2000, when it was still "Dixie Landings" and LOVED it! We stayed in the Alligator Bayou area, which I prefer because the landscaping is a bit more lush. There are several quiet pools, and Old Man Island was a big hit with my daughter. The food court was great, and Boatwrights was a very good full service restaurant.

You won't be disappointed!

WOW, thank you all for the information!
We will be staying at POR. To be honest we wanted CBR, but it isn't available. Based on all of the feedback, that doesn't seem to be an issue though. Thanks again,
Batty...

from all that i have read on the two resorts, i am sure you will enjoy! we have stayed at cbr and would never again (unless we had no choice!)... we found cbr too spread out... looking forward to the smaller feel of POFQ! ENJOY!
