Going to Disney for Halloween and staying at the Port Orleans Riverside for the first time. Any Suggestions on best location? Bayou vs Mansions? Best views? Thanks:Pinkbounc

We have stayed at the resort twice and found the Bayou accomadation just right. Last time we went we were advised to book a room situated not to far from the main building ( so not lots of walking with little ones) which had beautiful views of the sassagoula. I can't remember the room number but at a guess I think it was 1822( maybe wrong). However if you go to the resort forum you will probably find some advice there or do a search for previous postings on Riverside / Dixie landings.

hope the above helps and enjoy.

We stayed in POR in August and we were allocated building 14 in the Bayou section. This is the closest building to the foodcourt and the main bus deepo.

We prefer the bayou section to the mansions, the landscaping is really nice and makes the place seem secluded and quiet.

I have stayed several times in POR and although we liked the Bayou section, we probably still preferred the Mansions. The decor and furniture in the rooms depends on the location and we just preferred the furniture and landscaping of the Mansions. Also felt there were less bugs outside at the mansions because the landscaping is more open. However, generally you do have to walk a little further from the mansions to the food court, but not much and it is actually very difficult to get lost in the mansions as opposed to the bayou which is full of windy paths. Oak Manor I think is the closest to the main building. I'm sure you'll like whatever you decide upon.

Another vote for the Bayou area :). Our favourite is building 18 - it's right next to 14, so not far from the main building, but just a step nearer the quiet pool and Ol Man Island with the main pool.

We stayed there in 1999 - in the mansion houses but I can't remember which one - I do recall it being just across the bridge from the main pool - only a short walk from the foodcourts. I loved the theming of the whole resort - I don't think you can go wrong with wherever you end up. Have a great trip.

We stayed in the Mansions bit, in the Magnolia Terrace building. We were an easy walk away from the lobby etc, just over the main bridge, and out the back it was fairly close to one of the bus stops - very handy.

I definitely prefered the openess of the mansion setting - I personally found the bayou just a little bit creepy!! But wherever you stay it's a wonderful resort.
