Port Orleans riverside views

Just booked up to go to port orleans riverside,anyone been and what are their views,also the wife wants to know is there a hairdryer in room,iron and board

POR is our favourite resort out of the ones we have been to (including AKL and the Dolphin).

Rooms are standard WDW layout, either two queen size beds or one kingsize plus vanity area with two sinks and a separate bath/toilet with shower over the bath. You get a table with two chairs and a TV unit with drawers.
In the bayou section the beds are themed to look like they are made from rough cut logs - these do hurt your shins if you catch them as you walk by - I know from personal experience LOL.
You get a small wall safe (not that big), and now come with a small fridge.

In the Bayou section building 14 is the best one to get - close to the foodcourt and main bus depot.

Always use the main bus depot to get the park buses - there are other bus depots around the resort, but as the bus calls at the main depot first, it may be full by the time it reaches the last stop.

The landscaping is wonderful with the constrast between the rustic, dense bayou section and the manicured lawned mansions section. The resort, although large never feels crowded and the quiet pools are a welcome, retreat from the parks for an afternoon swim and siesta

Food court is good, with plenty of choice and seating. Refillable mugs are available to use at the drinks section (choice of Coke, Sprite, Orange Soda, fruit juice, coffee, hot chocolate and tea).

Can't recall getting a hairdryer in the rooms.

There are coin operated laundry rooms next to all the quite pools, or you can arrange for valet laundry to be collected from your room in the bags supplied.
I think you may be able to request an iron and ironing board from room service.

Make sure you take the boat to DTD and a Surrey bike ride around the resort

There is a hair dryer and Iron and board in the rooms
plus a small fridge
and TV with the Disney Channal of course

We love to go for a walk first thing in the morning

The boat ride to Down town is lovely just take a light jumper if you are going in the evening
we hire out bikes as well

think everything else has been covered

Like everyone else has said its a lovely resort. I would have one tip for you though.
Don't pay extra to have a waterview room. We did paid 120 dollars and the water view?? A fountain!!

I expected a river view!!! I caused a fuss and got my 120 dollars refunded but beware this is the sort of thing Disney class as "water view!

We loved it too - we found it a very relaxing, fairly quiet/calm resort ...though we did visit in February (2004).


The only thing we couldn't take to was the food court; which we found expensive, canteen like, noisy and food quality poor. We jumped in the car each morning to go to Sizzlers at Crossroads for a cheap 'all you can eat' breakfast instead - only a 10 -15 min journey.

We stayed in Port Orleans Riverside in January and I absolutely loved it. The grounds were so beautiful - did you know that you can do a carriage ride there? $35. We didn't do that - we rented a kayak (less than $10 for 1/2 hour) and paddled down to French Quarter. I was happy with the room, the landscaping, pool, transportation, and the restaurant. I too was a bit disappointed with the foodcourt.

One thing that struck me very funny while in the omlette line at the food court: The Irish gentleman in line in front of me was ordering his omlette and neither he nor the American cook with the southern accent could understand one another at all. I ended up translating...and we are all, in theory, English speakers.
