We have a stay booked for por in june. This will be my mother and son's first trip so I booked us the preferred room. My mother has a bad knee so when able to lessen the amount of stairs the better. I was going to request bottom floor due to less stairs but my mom was more concerned with noise from above us.

Has anyone stayed at por first floor and had major noise issues with people above ? If it's a non issue I'm going to still request bottom floor. Thank you for any info.

It is always a possible issue. It depends on who is in the room above you. There are no guarantees it will be quiet

We stayed on the first floor for a week in August and had no problems at all. Never heard a thing & we generally go to bed on the early side & rise early.
My parents had the 1st floor room next to us & never complained of noise either.

We stayed on the 1st floor in a corner room in magnolia bend with no complaints. The only noise we ever heard was people walking by in the mornings to go to the main area or to the pool. This was very minimal though and usually only noticed it when we slept in a bit later than usual.

I always request highest floor b/c I have had noise on first floor during multiple stays at POR. More passersby, the parking lot, ppl above us, etc. POR has elevators though so your don’t have to be on first floor.

OP if you booked preferred those rooms are in Alligator Bayou and don't have elevators. We have had 1st & 2nd floors at POFQ ( all buildings are three floors) and haven't had a real issues. Last trip we didn't hear the upstairs neighbor.

Oh sorry. I missed that you said preferred room. I’ve never stayed in that section so I don’t know about that side. We always end up in the mansion side & have had noise above us, but there are 3 floors.

During out 2nd POR trip we had ground floor and as another poster said all that we heard was the noise coming from people walking past our room (cheerleaders).

We had a first floor preferred room king bed corner room in Alligator Bayou this past August. We didn't experience any noise from the room above us and really didn't notice too much nose from the people passing our room.

I've found Alligator Bayou to be super quiet at least in my preferred room stay (granted it was during a slow time of year)
