Hi, we're going to POR for the first time. Will taxis pick us up at our building-royal rooms so either Parterre Place or Oak Manor- or do we have to go to the main building?

Looking at a RO discount for fall... As far as royal rooms are concerned...are pool view rooms the most conveniently located? Taking an almost-1 year old this fall and don't want to book something super inconvenient in case of tired child or rain.

I will be in disney in only 53 days(!!!!) and i don't know whether to do online check in or not? Once i get to the resort, I want to go to Epcot asap, so if i am taking the magical express from the Orlando airport to POR, should I just check in at that point?

Of the Royal Rooms, yes the Pool View ones are definitely the best bet as far as location is concerned. They are all clustered fairly near to the footbridge over to the main buildings, and they are also close to the East bus stop too.

No reason not to, why wouldn't you? You can't do resort checkin at the airport, only once you get to the resort.

Ok. Wondering how loud building 16 really is. I read in unofficial guide to Disney that it can be loud with traffic, etc. We sleep hard at Disney simply from going all day. Just double checking before I request this one and it's not what we want. I want us to be close to a bus stop and closer to central area of food court, etc. We have paid for a garden view and don't want to have to pay for preferred. So who has stayed in building 16? what was your experience?

Hello,

Booked POR from 12/9-12/19 this year. We booked a preferred room so we are close to the main building. I've been to the resort before and I thought it was worth the extra cost to book preferred. Here is my question....should I now request a certain building in the preferred section or are all 4 (I think there are 4) good?

I was thinking it would be best to be by the quiet pool.

Thank you!

Yes actually all four are pretty great location. But if you want close to pool id go for building 18 as you said you reserved preferred so it would perfectly fine trying for that. If you need any further help with this you can check out my Request thread. I answer there also.

So excited! We will be at POR for the very first time in 21 days. I've decided not to make any special requests (buildings, sections, etc.) and just enjoy wherever they assign us!

So excited! My FIL had a PIN for fall free dining, and we were able to use it for POR! We had to book RR-GV, but we got 3 rooms altogether with free dining for all 9 of us!!!

Here is my question...we are a family of 5, and we had to put my youngest on a reservation with his grandparents. We did this last year at POP, but there were nights that he REALLY wanted to spend with his brother and sister, so we took an air mattress. It was tight, but it fit. Could we do that in a RR? Or would it be to much of a squeeze? The furniture looks pretty big, so I'm just wondering if it would work at all.

Thanks!!

Yes, a single inflatable mattress will fit fine.

Wow, you're brave, lol! Hope you like your location! We always enjoy the mansion section so I request!

Almost there :cool1: have a magical trip!!

We have stayed in 16 twice and enjoyed it. The location itself is not loud, but it all depends on who is around you.

This is true. I've found any location we've had has been quiet. Untill a loud obnoxious family moved into the room next to me. :faint: my only saving grace was it was our last night!! So didn't have to put up with them for long.
Not too bad, out of all my stays only happened once.

To be honest, as highly as I rate the Unofficial Guide, on that subject they do seem to just be looking for something to write.

Yes, there is a perimeter road around the resort which has a few cars and Disney buses on it (which is at least 80 yards from the closest Standard View rooms in building 16, and with two rows of trees and a parking lot separating you), and further out than that is the most remote stretch of Bonnet Creek Parkway (at least 120 yards away, and with a third row of trees), and that isn't even an especially busy road anyway. It's not exactly like your room will back onto Interstate-4.

In short, don't worry about traffic noise anywhere in Port Orleans (worry more about a herd of baby elephants moving into the room above you).

Well - let the depression begin ... Sitting by the pool now waiting for the magical express to pick us up to take us back to our other home : ( :sad1: and just had omelettes made by Haywood too. So gooood! Can't wait to come back next year. Buses were fantastic ... Some were waiting for us! Magic bands worked great. Had a corner room in building 37 which was a perfect peaceful walk after a day in the park. To all of you waiting for your trips to start, enjoy each minute of it!

Just have to say that I am so excited to try POR( Royal Rooms)! The only other moderate we've tried is CSR and we love it but wanted to try something new. We're DVC members so usually stay in a villa but I gifted our pts, to my SIL because I didn't think we'd take a trip this year. It's worked out well though because we get to try a new resort!
Are there any hints that will make our stay more magical?

So glad I called as soon as I got the Disney Visa room only offer, as it appears that POR sold out of the discounted rooms for my dates. Whew! I switched from a standard view to garden view and am paying less than I was with my AAA discount. It will be our first stay there. I've requested to be as close to the main building as possible. Really looking forward to it!

I usually fax 4-5 days before our arrival, but we're going on a Disney cruise prior to our stay. Is it okay to fax about 8-9 days before arrival?
