There were issues with the fridges and they had to replace them at many if not all of the resorts. From what I remember reading on the boards that was completed.

Correct, the replacement process was fully completed back in November, all rooms at POR and POFQ should now have fridges as standard.

I take it there is a charge for more than 2 adults in the room.

Correct, two adults are included as standard, but extra adults (i.e. anyone aged over 17 years old) will incur an additional $15 fee per night. So the basic listed prices would cover two adults and up to three children (aged 17-or-under) in the room, but having five adults in the room instead would cost an extra $45 per night. Plus tax.

I have a question. I'm looking at room rates for late September this year (just to get a ballpark figure for our trip in September next year). I am on the disney website looking at POR preferred rooms. There are 10 of us going, therefore I will need to book two rooms. For the first room (a preferred room that sleeps 5), I put in 4 adults 1 child and get a certain price that comes up for room only. When I enter 3 adults 2 children for the second room (also a preferred room that sleeps 5), I get a completely different price for room only. If I'm looking at the same category of room, that sleeps the same number of people, for room only, for the same dates, why would they have two different prices?

Yes, after 2 adults there's a charge for each additional adult.

Let's say someone makes a reservation for two adults. If two additional adults will be staying just for a couple nights of the original five night reservation, can their names be added (with the appropriate additional cost, of course) at the front desk for just those nights?

Hey! I just read that your fax request worked! I was just wondering what you requested or how you worded it?

I finally decided to book our trip and we'll be going the week before Thanksgiving! I'm crossing my fingers for free dining but even if we don't get it this trip is long overdue. It'll be our first time staying at POR and I'm pretty excited!

I followed the much- publicized template maybe 10% so it didn't look like everyone else's. Kept my requests modest (unobstructed garden view away from stairs @ Magnolia Terrace) and this is indeed a place where dreams come true.

Good luck. I tried doing that at BC on a room only reservation & they made me add them for the entire time. Cost me big bucks there & they only stayed 2 of our 4 nights. They told me no way around it & wouldn't refund.

My first time posting in the POR thread, but I had to because we'll be staying there in August. We have a six-night stay at YC and needed to add a day. I decided to not even bother looking at YC. Our last trip, my oldest daughter and I took the boat from POR to DTD and she has wanted to stay there ever since. I'm keeping it a surprise from her. We have a water view booked. We'll be a party of five. Should I assume we'll get a room with the two queens and the murphy bed? I'm traveling with my mom and three older kids. I love them all dearly, but the thought of having to sleep in a king bed with two of them has me a bit itchy.

We'll be spending the whole day at the resort after we check out from the YC. We might head to DTD for a bit, but otherwise, I'm just looking forward to spending time at the resort!

I think the only rooms you can stay in are the Alligator Bayou rooms. They sleep 5 guests. 2-Queen beds and one pull down bed.

King bed rooms only sleep up to 3 guests so you wouldn't be put in that room.

If I requested Magnolia Terrace, and there are 3 adults, should I assume we are getting 2 queen beds. Thank you.

Yes you will get 2 queens...we were in Magnolia Terrace last time.

So got a call today regarding my email about the boats. Very strange. Not sure why they called. The woman clearly did not want to talk. She said she was calling regarding my email. I said I was very disappointed they got rid of the boats and I had been looking forward to renting on. She said well it was a third party vendor, then said nothing but dead silence. I just said I was disappointed but again dead silence. I was not expecting anything but it seemed like she had no intention of talking just wanted to say it was a third party and hang up. Very odd. Wondered why they called rather than emailed if she did not want to talk. Oh well I figured if enough express disappointment they might reconsider. Anyway it was kind of awkward because she clearly did not want to talk.

Oh well...44 days until we can relax at POR!!

That's what I thought, but I wanted to check. Thank you!

I'm so excited to stay there, even if it's just for one night.

We stayed there last March and loved it so much we are staying there again in August. This time we are staying in the Royal Rooms, I'm dying to see them.

Hope you have a nice time there. If you get a chance, walk around the resort. We left our rooms a little early each morning to have a stroll. It's a really nice atmosphere.

I still don't understand why. It's two queen beds regardless if there's two adults or three adults. Both rooms also have the pullout Murphy bed. This is for room only....not for any type of package.

Saw the next post by someone else and it says there's a $15/extra adult fee. Boo!

I don't understand it either. If room occupancy is 4, I don't get why the extra charge after 2 adults. I've stayed in Marriott & Hilton hotels in Florida and don't get charged for more then 2 adults.

I've been working on a few ideas to update the user interface at portorleans.org and make it a bit easier to use (also using the screen space better and hopefully making the code more scalable for mobile devices at a later stage). I don't want to turn the site into some ghastly Microsoft-like mess of large mostly-empty square boxes :) but just to make it a bit more of a pleasant experience without losing the basic look-and-feel.

Anyway, if anyone would like to comment, I've got a few test pages converted. All the menu links go back to the main site if you happen to click on them, but the pages should be suitable for trying out in different browsers, etc.

I'd be interested to know people's thoughts.

There are a lot of things about Disney's charging policy that I don't understand (why should two people in a 1 x King Bed room be charged $25/night more than having a whole family stay in a 2 x Queen Bed room?) but unfortunately that's what the rates are, and it's a take-it-or-leave-it situation.

It's rather like the annual price hikes which are generally about twice the rate of inflation; it may be morally debatable, but as it's their property they can charge whatever they like for it - and until visitors stop paying and go somewhere else instead, the 'American Dream' capitalist business model says they should keep on raising their prices as long as the market stands it.
