We haven't stayed at either, and we're wondering which one we'll like best??

Our main reason for choosing one of these moderates is to be able to ride the boat to and from Downtown Disney (we plan to spend at least one evening at Raglan Road! :goodvibes ).

Which resort do you favor, and why? Thanks! :cloud9:

You will be happy at either. Have a great vacation.

I should add that it will just be DH and I, no children.

From reading various threads, I'm getting the impression that people like FQ because it's smaller and faster/easier to get around in. Others like POR because it has a sit-down restaurant and live music in the lounge. Plus more recreation at POR.

You have a pretty good idea of what the resorts are like. POR is nice for couples because it is spread out a bit. The walks can be pleasant. It can be a bit more romantic. However POFQ is nice too. The good thing is whichever you decide they are close, and a visit to the other is very easy.

I've never been to POR, but I did stay at POFQ last November with my boyfriend and loved it. It's kind of a romantic resort, which is nice. I enjoyed that it was pretty compact and easy to get around. The boat ride to DTD is fantastic - we actually rode it quite a few nights. I would absolutely stay at POFQ again.

We loved POFQ!!!! It is very peaceful and quaint...a very lovely resort! A big plus is that it is small, everything is very close. The rooms are decorated very nicely and the mousekeeping was just fine. The bus service is is much much much better, because the bus picks up and drops off at POFQ first.

POR is also a pretty resort, but much more spread out. We just overall enjoyed POFQ better. The worst experience we had was the bus service. Most of the times the buses were just about full of guests from POFQ. So, by the time some people from POR got on the bus is was full....so we had to wait for another bus to come along. Others have had good bus experiences as I have read on the board, so you never know, maybe we were just unlucky.

I would not hesitate to stay at POFQ again! It is my favorite moderate.

POFQ also has live music in ScatCats lounge, a jazz musician named Eliot Dyson. I haven't heard him, and I don't know whether he sings and/or plays an instrument. Others on the DIS enjoy him, and being just you and your DH, you may like his show more than Bob Jackson at POR. :thumbsup2

POFQ the food is great, the pool rocks, the design is cool, and its the most relaxing resort in WDW IMO.

Both are awesome. I love both of them. I favor POR because it's more spread out and has more trees (many more trees). It makes walking around seem secluded, like you'r a million miles away from everything, yet still in WDW.

OOhh.... choose the FQ. It's so much more...um... intimate! Smaller, less children, easy on/off the boats, and my favorite? First on the buses... (you'll have a seat!) and First OFF the buses after a long day.

I stayed in May 05 with DH and 3 Diz kids at the POR. I've family who have stayed at the FQ and liked it too. We loved staying at the POR, even better than the CBR. We did the whole boat thing to Downtown Disney, which was nice. Keep mind it's not super fast and sometimes there's a good wait, but a nice break from the buses. Felt overall the buses returning was quick but as others said, sometimes filled with FQ quests on pick up's.

I recomend requesting a building near the food court,we were just around the corner and even though we had a "paking lot view" all the tall pines kept our second floor view great.

You'll love the double sinks and the privacy curtian in the sink area if you rise earlier than your DH as I do. We enjoyed it and plan to stay there again in the future.:yay: :yay:

Whatever you choose have a great time I love going to WDW with my whole diz family but cherish the trips with just my DH.

My friend went recently with her husband. They stayed at POFQ. She told me she wished they had stayed at POR. She said she thought it would be more romantic, more pathways for walks along the river, etc. So, if you want copmact, FQ would be better, to others' points, but, if you like the idea of long, romantic strolls, POR might be better.

Have stayed at both and much prefer FQ. It is compact, seems cleaner to us and the pool is great. The bus service is better and we love the beignets for breakfast and if on the DP 6 just count as a snack. Whenever we have left MK FQ has it's own bus and it is never nearly the line POR is. Again we would stay at both again but much prefer FQ.

I suggest looking at some of the photos to decide which style you like better. They're both Moderate resorts with the same kinds of amenities.

The decorations at FQ are a bit garish for my taste. Lots of large plastic decorations (mostly the food court and pool areas) like the Value resorts. By comparison the POR is a bit more reserved and "classy", in my opinion.

I'm sure POFQ is a fine place to stay, however.

Edit: Forgot to add that I'm staying at POR in a little over a month!

We stayed at POR this past May for the first time & loved it. Did I say LOVED IT! It was perfect in every way for us. We don't have children either & we found it very romantic & relaxing. It is not too spread out at all. If you are staying mod, why not take advantage of the beautiful surroundings. Loved the boat to DDT, the breakfast we had at Boatwrights was too yummy for words..sweet potato pancakes with honey pecan butter!!!!! The place was never crowded-we never even saw anyone pass by our room! We had originally had ressies at FQ that got screwed up by our TA & we had no choice but to take POR. I would never admit it to her, but I'm so glad she messed up. I feel like POR is our new Disney home. We are trying the Poly for the first time in Sept because of a great rate, but I have to be honest when I say I'm really missing POR. I think that FQ is beautiful too & I would stay there, but the theming is much better at POR. One of the things I like better at FQ is the singer at night. If you do choose POR, I suggest asking for AB section not the mansions. They are cozier I think. We had building #38 & loved that location. Did I mention that we LOVED POR???!!!

I love POFQ because of its size. There are many secluded places at POFQ too. The bus from MK in the evening is one of the best things about this resort. That and the beignets.
