Which of these 2 would you choose if these were your only choices? We have 3 adults and 2 kids (10 and 6) so we need a room that holds 5. Based on our budget, these are the only 2 that work. I know space may be tight, but we just need a place to sleep really. We can't afford 2 rooms or a more expensive resort. What kind of pros/cons do I need to consider? Thanks.

I would go with the ASM suite - two bathrooms makes it easier to get everyone ready in the morning!

I have not done ASM suites but have done POR and AoA suites. I would also agree with the ASM suite vote. We love POR and have stayed there before as a family of 5. But this was before the suites were available. It was tight, but made it work since the only other option at the time was to go deluxe. We've stayed in AoA family suites several times as a family of 4 adults and 1 teenage a few times and loved the space. I think ASM and AoA suites have similar space and layouts. IMO you'll be much, much happier with the extra space and extra bathrooms in the ASM suites.

I not sure of your traveling dates but the Family Suite at ASM is average $300 with no discounts at its absolute cheapest. Every thought about two adjoining rooms at Pop Century for roughy the same cost?

Stayed at POR a couple times and ASM suite one night. The pull out couch at ASM was worse than sleeping on a floor for an adult. The metals bars dug into our body and we could not sleep. They sent us a mattress around midnight that worked but you could not fold up the couch anymore making it difficult to navigate the entry room. This partially reduced the space advantage of ASM vs POR. At POR the adults would get a proper bed assuming one was sleeping with one of the kids. It would certainly be a tight fit though. If you go the ASM route try out the pull out couch when you arrive. It is quite possible that we were just unlucky but I am not the only one to have complained about that pull out couch.

Depending on the makeup of your adult group/relationships, how well you all work together for bathroom use .............. I'd always pick POR over ASMu.

We've stayed 4 adults to a value and moderate rooms, and we manage the bathroom just fine.

One thing to consider is that Disney charges a fee for an extra adult (beyond 2) except in the suites and villas--so if you have one room at POR you will have to pay that fee.

I don't know your dates to look up rates, but have you priced out a Fort Wilderness cabin? They have a kitchen, and if you are able to eat some meals there (even just breakfast) it might help decrease your overall budget.

We rent 2 rooms. What I do is price it out with one room (either the 2 adults or the 1 adult and 1 Disney adult) and then just double it. It would be roughly the same cost for the other room.

With 5, 3 being adults I’d feel really cramped at POR, as much as I love it there I’d go to Allstars. Another option is the cabins at Ft. Wilderness perhaps?

Just call customer service to book. To get a quote just choose one room and double the cost (you'll need to adjust the guests temporarily). I find the online site doesn't handle multiple rooms bookings all that well. Give them a call 1 (407) 939-5277. 4 queen beds and two bathrooms in an update room for the same cost as an ASM family suite.

They always add it in, even for a room only. I travel often with my "boys" who are both adults. If I pull one out and only put in two of us, the price drops. If the adult is listed on the reservation the charge is added in.

If you are pricing out POR with 5 people on the website, it will automatically quote you the price with the extra adult fee.

If you would like to book 2 rooms at Pop, it is easiest to call as they can link the reservations and add any requests (such as "connecting rooms" if you would like to request it). If you would like to know the price prior to calling, simply break up your party and price out the room. For instance, you could put 2 adults and 2 children in one room and get that price and then price out 1 adult in the room to get the additional cost. If you call the reservation in, you can also ask them to book both rooms under one reservation number.

Did more research and 2 connecting rooms at All Star Music actually appears to be a bit cheaper than the suite! Waiting on an official quote from my travel agent but this may be the way to go.

Update! We are officially booked for our first Disney trip! We went with the 2 connecting rooms (hopefully anyway since I know they can't guarantee), but actually decided on Pop Century because it was only $47 total more per room over the All Stars. 2 rooms were cheaper than the suite and everyone gets a real bed. Now I just have to wait 356 more days.. lol

Congrats on getting things booked!

And we really enjoyed POP last year! - I can't speak to the refurb, because we were in 60s before that section was done, but we had no complaints about the room, the food court was good, and the icons all over were so much fun! (I'm a bit of a photography nut.)
