Port Orleans Riverside-My Report

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to answer questions. Dh and I will be there in January with a king bed. What was your view like? Were you on the river? Was it nice and secluded? When you walked out of the room was it nice and landscaped? Just curious, as this is what we are looking for.

I first learned about Bob Jackson (click here for a photo of Bob) here on the Dis. I saw him for the first time last year, and plan on seeing him again on my upcoming trip. As a matter of fact, the main reason I booked PO-RS was so my husband could see Bob's show for the first time. I agree, it is a lot of fun and definitely somewhat of a Disney Secret. KingGoofy here on the Dis is one of Bob's biggest fans. I think I'm close behind.

We stayed at POR Oct 1-Oct 9 and had an excellent time, we will most certainly stay there again. We also had the problem of our TV not working. Within a half hour, the maintenace man was there with a new TV. Room service was excellent. Nellie Gonzales 2 was our "Tinkerbelle" She left towel animals every day we were there, except one. She left a note to the kids saying she would be flying to Disney Land for a one day vacation. So sweet and discreet on the days we saw her outside our room. The room was comfortable and clean. The food court was excellent. Too much food really. Invest the 12.99 and get the refillable mug. Kids got hot chocolate every night. Bob was great in the lounge. Interacts with the kids and involves them in a parade around the lounge. Also gives autographed photos. Landscaping if beautiful. We stayed in the Mansion section. Oak Manor. I requested Magnolia Terrace. Oak Manor is a smoking building, we dont smoke. It was not a problem. The pool is great, kids had so much fun, and so did mom and dad! Excellent mudslides at the pool bar! Quiet pool by our building was also alot of fun after a long day at the parks. The laundry was next to it so it was easy to do some while swimming for an hour.

Just a comment about Bob Jackson in the lounge. We have stayed at POR for the last four years, every night when we get back to the parks we would head into the gift store for our morning O.J. and there he is next to the store, having a BLAST with the audience. Do you think we had time to stop and enjoy?? We just never had the time our entire 4 trips. WELL, this trip we are staying at the BCV's (first time as members), and darn it, we are taking a special trip one night over to POR to finally enjoy this man!!! I can't wait, and neither can my kids because the plan is to stop and have supper at the food court and my DS can have his "worms and dirt" favorite dessert, omg, he loves this stuff. I can't wait!!
This resort is fantastic. I am really looking forward to more space and experiencing being a DVC member, also staying around the Boardwalk...but I will surely miss our first "home", Dixie Landings..can't call it that other name .
