First off I just want to say that I just found this site and think it's awesome!! There's tons of great info and it will take me month's to go through it all. My question for all you experts it this - Yesterday I reserved 2 "preferred" rooms at Port Orleans Riverside for 3 nights (April 29th untill May 2nd) for a total price including taxes and fees of $636, or about $106 per night per room. I could also get 2 standard rooms for $529, or about $88 per night. What's the advantage of the preferred rooms? Are they worth the extra money?

Yes. These are good prices. The preferred rooms are closer to the main building(s) which house the foodcourt, guest services and the gift shop.

How did you get such good prices? I would be willing to go to a moderate for that!

Preferred, or waterview? I didn't know POR had preferred. We've been given building 14 (close as it gets) for standard. What buildings are considerred preferred? I've never had a bad room, since nothing is much more than a 10 minute walk.

How did you get such a great price? We are going April 22-30th. We want to stay @POR.

Apparently, the way I got the price I did was due to a discount that "auto populated" on my reservation?? I actually just got off the phone with Disney and due to this discount and reading these boards, I decided to upgrade to 2 rooms at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for $138 per room per night including taxes and fees. From what I can gather, this is a good price and I think my 3 year old and 6 year old will love being able to see the animals. Thanks again for all the great info!!

Did you phone in the reservation or do it online?

I phoned it in, funny thing is they didn't even tell me about the discount. I didn't find out I had a discount until I called a couple of days later to check pricing on upgrading. My lucky day I guess!!
