My room looked like this swapping the fridge and bench:

But the new layouts should look like this right?:
Port-Orleans-Resort-Room-LayoutNEW.png

I didn't use it but I'm sure that the Internet cable was at our nightstand by our phone. Plus the table was round.

One other thing was that our coffee pot cord did not quite reach the outlet. Luckily I brought a small cable with me that just reached.

For those of you wondering about the privacy curtain. It worked perfect for my DD and myself. I would get up first and shower, then while my DD would get her shower I would get dressed shave and brush my teeth. After my DD had her shower she would brush her teeth and be able to get dressed with the curtain closed. Usually while she was getting ready I'd go out and get ice for our water bottles and/or go outside and have a cup of coffee on the exterior walkway. It was so peaceful and I loved this time to myself with my cup of Joe.

OK, I've been trying to follow the whole thread but keep getting pulled away and then try to catch up by jumping around, and still can't figure out what to do...SO forgive me if this has been covered but I'm just going to ask...
Staying at POR Dec.3-11  for the first time. There are 6 in our party so from what I have read that means we will be AB. We would really like a refurb room but with so many little feet we are concerned about being to far out. Any advice on what standard building we should ask for? Still wishing we could do a Royal room or one of the Mansion rooms but I guess I will just have to do the bounce back for just DH and I:rotfl:
Thanks for the great thread! LOVIN IT:love:

They aren't. I looked into that because I have a king room as well, and I was told there are non-HA king rooms so I added a request to not be placed in one. How was the room though and where was it? I'm hoping for a corner room, so maybe it wouldn't matter to me if it was HA if in the right spot :thumbsup2

Was this a refurbished room (Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace) or an exisiting one?

We were in Alligator Bayou, #1601, corner room. It was parking lot view, and would be very convenient for someone with mobility issues who was driving, since a HA parking spot is very close to the room.

The room was, uh, roomy, but definitely in need of a refurb. It wasn't bad, but it did seem a little tired.

My only complaint -- which I have not registered -- was the presence of small black flies in the bathroom. (I think they live in the drains, because we had the same critters in the bathroom where I used to work.) I do need to mention it because they were a nuisance, and I'm sure off-putting for some guests. We were only there two nights, and hardly in the room, so it wasn't worth it to me to raise the issue and change rooms. But I killed at least eight in the shower one morning, which is excessive, and shouldn't be present in a hotel at that price point.

Do any of the rooms have a bathroom door?
Any rooms with doors that seperate the rooms with beds & the bathroom?
Are they all just a pull curtain?:confused3

Our King HA room #1601 had a single large bathroom with sliding door separating it from the bedroom.

No harm in calling and letting them know,
Andre

So, off your website Andre, is this the phone number to call?: 1-407-934-6000

We arrive next Thursday and it's so surreal because this trip-of-a-lifetime of ours, that has been two years in the planning, is nearly here! I did the online check in yesterday which was exciting but I was surprised that the "special requests" section was just a choice of 3 and no free format! :confused3 I ticked ground floor(not that it really bothers me but, since it was there I ticked it as I presumed it was popular :lmao:) and a trundle bed (though, as we are a family of five, presume we will have one anyway) but I would really like to request Building 16.

Yes, the Internet connection location varies, I don't know why. Some rooms have the wallport behind the bedside table, others by the table/chairs.

If you are going to connect a wi-fi router (as I do) then the bedside table location is great as there a spare power socket behind the table, which you can't really use for anything else, and the router sits nicely there. If you're going to plug a laptop straight into the port, the socket by the table & chairs makes more sense.

The tables are now round at POFQ and MB, but we don't know what the new AB rooms will have. I don't currently intend to update the room-layout plan until we know more about the AB rooms too.

Could these flies been knats, still annoying, but I would have had a complaint lined up first night.

I'd say check the map and see what suits you best - whether you want to be nearest the bus stop, pool, etc. Only some of the AB rooms will be refurbished by the time you go, so you'd have to keep tabs on the refurb schedule and request one of the buildings that could be finished by then if you want a refurb room. It might be worth it because apparently they are replacing the trundle with something more comfortable. The royal rooms will be done after February if you do decide to book a bounce back :thumbsup2

Any chance it was love bugs? I have read that when the housekeepers clean, they prop the door open and in mods and values, they frequently get in the rooms. Just a thought.

Maybe this is just me, and I apologize if it is, but has anyone noticed that at sites like allears.net and wdwinfo.com, they no longer have grids that show the rates and seasons for 2012? I'm able to go to the Disney World site and create packages and book rooms. But it would be nice to know the dividing lines, since I haven't received my 2012 planing kit yet (been waiting since July).

I might be off my rocker, but I could've sworn that I saw such grids as recently as early August. I don't know if I'm losing it or maybe Disney is rethinking their rates and seasons. Or, more than likely, some combination of the 2.

Anyone else notice this?

Probably drain flies, harmless but you should let them know so they can clean out the pipes.

I've got the 2012 rates for Port Orleans on my site, but I don't know if Disney may have pulled their rates and changed anything recently though? MouseSavers has got the 2012 rates for all the Disney resorts listed anyway - http://www.mousesavers.com/roomrates2012.html.

Sorry, that's an Accessible Room. Those have wardrobe hanging space (because the bathroom can no longer contain a hanging rail)

I am sorry if I missed something along the way - do all the rooms in AB now have Queen size beds instead of double beds? If not, which buildings have the Queen beds? We will be there in a month and it would be nice if we have that little bit extra sleeping space :cheer2:

If I am remembering correctly I believe they are just beginning or just getting ready to begin renovations on AB. I know when we will be there in Nov I believe building 36 will be completed. I could be wrong and I'm sure I will be corrected if so :).
