Just got back from POR. We had a great time & enjoyed the resort much more this time than in previous years. We were in building 14 which was perfect for filling our mugs with coffee every morning. We had the best mousekeeper EVER in all our years going to WDW. We had towel animals & extra supplies & touches that made us feel welcome at the resort. :lovestruc(we tipped every day but I have tipped every day at other resorts too & not have not always received good mousekeeping)

The food court was was manageable for early breakfasts, lunch & dinner. The only time it was a madhouse was around 8-11am (late breakfasts)

Bob Jackson was amazing! I do not know where that man gets his energy. :yay:

Staff was great & friendly. The pool was fun & they now have pool games/trivia & a dance party at the pool. This was started the week we arrived (early Aug). We did see a lot of people filling their mugs with old mugs. :headache:

Any others questions let me know. I am loading some pictures in photobucket today so I will be posting those.

I am glad you had such a great time. We love POR. What made you enjoy the resort more this time? Just curious. Did you request pay for a preferred location. or was it just luck?
We have always stayed in Building 27 although in the past we have been offered Bldg 14. I was afraid it was too close to the main building and would have a lot of foot traffic.
I can hardly wait to see your pictures.

We are going at the same time! I think you made the first right decision in choosing for POR! There is so much to do there for all ages. The pool area is awesome....cool jets and slide....for the younger kids you can borrow a life vest for the length of stay from the marina so they can freely enjoy it too.

Try the design your own pasta at the food court YUM! And the boat to DTD is a must do too. Yeehaw Bob is a fun show. My kids liked the arcade and renting the water mice as well.

Are all of the reservations linked? That way they will try to get your rooms close(if thats what you want :rotfl: ) The resort is very large!

Just make sure you take some time and really explore and enjoy the resort....it is so pretty and really has so much to offer!

Have fun:goodvibes

HOW EXCITING! Thanks for all the suggestions...I think/know we will have a great time... All our ressies are link so hopefully we will get put together.
The boat to DTD sounds great too...I've got that on our must do list. I think our first day will be resort time & hit the parks the next day. Thanks again!:woohoo:

Glad everyone survived the earthquake. Hope we survive Irene :thumbsup2 But I think we'll just get some rain. Unless it suddenly decides to change course.

Having a great time in POR. The new rooms are very comfy. With rooms like this who needs deluxe? :rotfl: but won't stop me stitching to BC Sat ;)

Now having the usual 3:00 storm.
Was at TL thhis morning, for EMH. Was great, rode all the slides in an hour at most! Then we just enjoyed the lazy river. Dinner at The Wave tonight.

Hey Sue
Sounds like you are having a great time! Hope you enjoy BC as much if not more then POR. We will be arriving at POR on Sunday afternoon. We have a 2:00am wake up time :scared1:.

Keep an eye out for my LGMH at the parks and say hi.

Before you check out put in a good word for Stan from Canada to get a refurbished room ;)

Are the new rooms queen or double beds?

Thank you so much for sharing these pictures! I have been checking here often in anticipation of seeing the new standard rooms. POR definitely holds a special place in our hearts and we are very much looking forward to staying there when we return to check out the new additions in FantasyLand!

:banana::banana::banana:

I am slowly making my way through this thread! We have stayed at POR in the past and this year we are going to POFQ......next year we are going back to POR because we need the trundle bed. Are there only certain sections in POR that sleep 5?????? Thanks

They are doing away with the five sleeping arrangement rooms. No more trundles.:confused3

Are the new "Garden View" rooms in a certain building, or are they standard rooms all over the resort that just do not have a parking lot view?

Not quite right, they are doing away with the trundles, but not the sleeping for 5, a much better option is coming. This rumor is driving me nuts!!

Thanks just info that had floated my way.

Garden are standard, they can give you a view of trees, ponds, or parking lots.

We planned more resort time. Used the pool, arcade, saw Bob Jacksons show, ate at the foodcourt..generally hung out alittle more to really take in the place. The 2 previous times we stayed there we just used it for a room to sleep in.

The CM upgraded us to 14 because she said it was not full. I had just requested "close to main building" & thats all. Didn't expect 14 though which was a nice surprise & very convenient. We did hear people coming back from the parks at times but I think you'd hear that no matter where you stayed.

We're booked at POR checking in on Nov. 16th. We're a family of five and this was the most economical resort on property for a family of five, even cheaper than any Values.

Any chance that they'll have any rooms for five (with the trundle option) that will be refurbished by then?

Just wondering if I should hope or let it go now...

I did book preferred room for a beter location.

Thanks!

I know in the refurb rooms they are getting rid of the trundle.

When I was at POR July 27-Aug 6th I asked a CM and manager about this rumor and they said yes they hope to get rid of the trundle...but to replace it with a better option, he claimed they were looking into murphy beds. This is the exact same thing I was told on the phone by a CM when I booked our next trip there for March. I dont care what they use as long as they keep some rooms for families of 5. I feel confident that they are not doing away with this option.

I am booking for a party of 6 for Sept 2012. My son will only be 1 so they will allow me to stay in AB. I was seriously considering Pop (2 rooms) for our stay because it will just give us more room...but I keep coming back to this thread and reading about all the great things going on at POR. As of yesterday I thought I had made up my mind to stay at POP, but I feel like with the size of my group, next year will be the only time I will be able to take advantage of staying at POR with a party of 6....oh decisions, decisions....:confused3

I've never been to POR, but through pictures and reading what everyone says about it, I would LOVE to stay here.

I think that could count as a person. But 6 you may have to get two rooms regardless.
