Well you get earning your ears when you first sign up. Soon I believe around 200 you rank up then again at either 500 or 1000 then is gets slower between classes after that. But Cast Member you get that once you prove to the Admin team here that you work for Disney by giving them some type of proof. The DisDad tag is because I am in the DisDad Club and that is my member number. You can type anything you want into your details when you go to UserCP then edit details. But you wont get weird funny tags in colors until the tag fairy sprinkles your profile with his/her magic. But if you ever change it after they modify it you will lose it.

Well to me less traffic by your window. To me I have never stayed in the Oak building before. I have been in every other building. Except the AB area. I have only been in building 14 over on that side.

As for listing previous trips, you can do that in your UserCP again under Edit Signature.

If you have any other off topic Qs you can PM me and I will help you. We try to keep it about POR here. No worries though.

We are doing a split stay at POR and POFQ. For the first 2 nights of our vacation we will be doing a room only stay at POR, before switching over to POFQ for our FD package.

Question: When we check out of POR at 11:00am, will we be "homeless" until POFQ has a room ready for us by 3:00pm?


I know that we can always leave our luggage at bell service until a room is available, but I was wondering how split stays are handled and what to expect?

Rooms are available earlier than 3 pm, but it may not be the room you want.

You can check-in at POFQ when the computers roll over for the day as early as 6:00 am in order to obtain your dining credits right away. A room may be available if you are waiting until 11:00 am to check-in.

Good point about the room choice. I'm starting to think that maybe we'll have to wait longer than usual for a room because we reserved a riverview, so I'm guessing there will be even fewer options available to us. However, I will take your advice and check in at POFQ at 6:00 am sharp. We might as well get the process started early.

From an architect's perspective, I can tell you the things I like over the other moderates - CBR and CSR:

1. While the others are a more elongated overall layout, POR is somewhat more round and therefore fairly accessible to any bus stop, pool, walkway, etc. There are very few rooms, with the exception of the farthest out Parterre Place rooms, that are far from anything.

2. I like the fact that once you depart the bus and get to the walkways around the buildings, you are in the shade.

3. I like the fact that there is a lot of landscaping, which also means a great deal of shade as you walk.

4. I like the overall layout of the main building. Some resort buildings are closest to the food court side and some are closest to the entrance/marina/bus stop. You have the best of both worlds; it is not that bad of a walk from the food court to the main bus stop.

I cannot think of one room that is going to be any more than a 10 minute walk unless you want it to be longer and leisurely.

You will love it!

I know over at the Poly latest free check out is 12pm after that they prorate a fee for later check out.

At Port Orleans it's 1pm before you get charged extra - assuming they can do it anyway. It all depends on whether the specific room you are in is needed for another incoming guest, and that might not be known until quite close to your checkout day.

So we will be at POR in February and I read that you can take the blizzard beach bus to get to the WinterSummerland Minigolf but blizzard beach will be closed for rehab, any suggestions on how to get their from POR? Thank you

Yes I just had a moment to check with a CM over at POR. Yes it is 1pm that they can charge for another day. But as Andre says you may be able to get an extra hour without them charging you if they don't need the room right away.

POR is my favorite resort! I have stayed there 3 times now and am planning a 4th stay now. I have never put in a request for a room based on distance from the main building, only requests for theme. I have been put in the farthest buildings away from the main building and I have to say I really don't get why people get so caught up in getting a certain building, or area, or view, etc. I am in my room to sleep or shower. I never stop to stare out the windows and see the view. I sit on the benches outside and just take it all in. I have also found that in recent years that we tend to spend very little time at the main building. We get up, get ready and head to the closest bus stop. We grab breakfast at the park we are going to that day. We eat a nice lunch at the park before heading back to the hotel for a break. We may get off the bus at the main stop and have dinner at the food court and then have no problems walking it off back to our room to get ready for our evening activities or going to the foodcourt after our mid-day break for dinner on our way back out to the parks. People seem to talk about how hard it is to walk that far with a sleeping child and baby gear, etc. But why would you get off at the main bus stop when you have a stop close to your room no matter how far away you are staying in the resort? At the end of a long day, I always get off the closest bus stop and am back in my room within a minute or 2.

POR is a WONDERFUL and PEACEFUL resort that offers a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks and I, for one, LOVE being stuck in the far reaches of it!! GO!! Enjoy it!! Don't stress over location and schedules and ADR's. Vacations are for fun and relaxation... not stress over little things that aren't worth it in the grand scheme of things.

I understand where you are coming from, but you are mostly in the minority. As an architect, we design spaces to appeal to different people. We do not see a resort as a place to sleep and shower.

I have done various trips from solo to mom to friends to girlfriends to smokers, so locations do mean something to me. I do not let it ruin my trip, but I am very happy when it does happen.

Last year, while traveling with friends, we got a refurbed room, connecting as well as requested. Not a deal breaker, but it was great enough that I looked like Tigger skipping to the other end of the check-in desk to celebrate with my friends.

I could go on about my solo trip with a riverview room at Parterre Place not 30 feet off the river. I pulled my chair out each night and watched the last water taxi each night.

Those are my magic memories.

I have to agree for reasons stated above, but also as an architect for the government, where we endeavor to make all buildings accessible to all people (We are currently working on a museum site for a WWII battle site.)

I have studied the resorts and they do some amazing things to make them accessible.

My boss has an autistic son and they request a specific area at POP, where they can return quickly from the parks and get right into the pool to get him through the afternoon.

One has to realize and think outside the box a bit to realize the advantage of Disney is there is something to help everyone make a wonderful trip.
