I am planning on CROWDED, but we will be at Disney and a crowded day at Disney is better than not being there!!!

It's Sunday so I can officially say, I'll be at WDW next week!!!!!!!!

I go back and forth...:) I am trying to have the attitude of just going with the flow but I am a planner and when my planning self kicks in, I panic. And deep down I know we will have fun regardless...its just that darn planning self :rotfl:

I cant wait til we are down to single digits! I feel like I have been counting days forever....booked our trip in September.

Crowds+New Fast Pass Rule=:scared: but....I'm still going! I am down to single digits..going to stay with my aunt a few days prior so I fly out next Tuesday...:yay:

I'm so disappointed. I could not get any type of room at POR for free dining the last week of Sept. I called because there were no moderates available for that time online. I had to settle for POFQ. I know that essentially they are same resort, but I find New Orleans to be on the garish side. I'm not sure if we're going to be happy there. What makes me sick is that earlier in the week I checked online to see what rooms were available. All room types came up including the RGR. I should have confirmed it then, but I wanted to think about it a few days. Oh well, I can only blame myself.

Does anyone know if the RGRs have an alarm clock that docks/charges iPhones and iPods?

Just wanted to share... AllEars has some different pictures and a different video of the new RGR rooms than we've seen here on the DIS.

Has anyone stayed recently in the new rooms? We have booked a surprised trip for our daughter. She's a teenager but only 4'11 and approx 110 - 115 lbs. Will she fit on the fold down bed? Is it much smaller than the daybeds at Polynesian or Contemporary? We used a rollaway bed at CSR back in May. It was perfect size for her. I am hoping it is about that size. I saw a picture with a small child but I couldn't tell how tall the child was. Thanks for any help!! This is our first time at Riverside and I can't wait!! :cloud9:

It is indeed smaller than the poly day bed.

Can you point me to the pic you saw? I haven't seen one of the murphy beds with anyone on them yet. I did hear that they are 5ft in length.

I think the beds at Poly/Contemp are more twin daybed size.

The RGR rooms aren't going to add very much to the cost.

Well it's still $30 per night over the comparable non-Royal room categories... and if you're staying for a few days, that's quite a lot of Dole Whips.

Yes, Deb was tweeting about their stay quite a bit yesterday, but I was on my phone not the PC so didn't have a chance to copy the link over. If the DIS link-censor doesn't object, the direct page link is: http://allears.net/acc/g_PortOrleans-RoyalRooms.htm. Otherwise you all know how to find AllEars.net!

The new murphy beds are slightly smaller than the old ones. They are 63 inches long if that helps (verus about 70 inches for the old trundles) so someone under 5ft should be fine. I've no idea why they didn't make the units just a little bit wider to give a larger bed, as there would have been plenty of room to do that (and it would have given more drawer space too, which is another common issue).

OK, über-geeky question here... but in this photo of a standard (i.e. not Disability Accessible) Royal Guest Room borrowed from the excellent AllEars...

RoyalRoom13.jpg

... could someone confirm whether that entrance doorway recess modification has been applied to other Royal Guest Rooms too? All the photos I've seen so far have been facing into the room, rather than towards the entrance door.

I know they've done this for the new style Disability Accessible rooms (to allow more space for access around the new queen beds) but I'd have thought it would have been a pretty major (and costly) undertaking to have done it for the whole building...

[Edit] In fact, if you look at the ceiling on the far-left of this photo that I was sent earlier, this room is the same too:

PO.org-Guest-RGR-First-Bed_small.jpg

Which begs the question, are all of the rooms like this (with more floor space!) and if so how do connecting doorways fit in with this layout?

Leaving this afternoon for our first POR stay!!! Girls first trip to Disney ever! Could hardly sleep last night. So excited for it all! :wizard::wizard:

Thanks! No, garden view. Booked with queen beds etc. you know the deal. But I phoned in my refurb room request. We will be happy no matter what room we get! Too many fun things in store this week! :flower3:
