We check in in a little over a week. Is it better to do the echeck in?

I was told by a CM when I called to make request that if you do echeck in their is a better chance at getting what you want. I'm not sure I have never done this before because I never really cared were I stayed since I had been staying deluxe my past few visits. This time I really want a new room so I'm not sure:confused3 let me know how it goes.

We have no requests. Just leaving it up to the room assigned where we go.

I wonder if this is true as I have 2 requests on my reservation?:confused3

Hey all,
I've been lurking on this thread for a while. My dh got a new job this fall and won't be able to vacation for a year. So for Christmas he got my dds, sister, mom, and me a trip to WDW over Spring Break (we all work in education so summer or Spring Break our only real options.) My DH booked a room for us at POR AB. We have only stayed values before so we are so excited. I know it will be crazy crowded the week we are there (4/1-4/6). I asked about the buses on another thread but thought I would post here, too, as you all seem to be the experts and more positive about POR. Are the buses incredibly crowded? If so, would the main stop be the best place to catch the bus, if our room is not too far (we don't mind the walk we stayed in the farthest building at POP 2 years ago)?
Also, what would be a must do for us at the resort, my dds are 3 and 5? Thanks.

If you are going to be going to and from the parks at the peak times then yes they will be packed, but so will most of the other resort buses. The bus route is usually in this order, South, West, North and East. But they have been known to stray from this routine:laughing: We no longer leave the park at closing, we either leave before or we will find a nice place to sit and have a snack while we watch the "heard" of people trying to rush out so they can wait for transportation:confused3
Must do's:
Take boat to DTD
Go over to POFQ to use their pool and maybe get some beinets
Try and see Yehaa Bob's show usually wednesday thru saturday
Take a relaxing stroll around the resort and enjoy the landscape and river views
Just enjoy the peacefulness of it.

Is the main parking by checkin considered the south or first bus stop?

All Packed and just have to pack shave gear tomorrow. Got the redbull for the morning wake up. Pretty much set.

Have a great trip Venom. We leave Friday afternoon and I am NOT packed. Where does the time go? I'm a little jealous about the Poly thing BUT...I love POR over most of the deluxes so not too jealous.:rotfl: Don't forget pictures!!

I wasn't going to blow my own trumpet about that one. <groan>

Andre

Andre, You can blow your own trumpet anytime you want here! :thumbsup2 I'm sure I speak for everyone on this thread....we are grateful for the work you do and all the great info you've given us on your website! It's the first place I go when I'm wondering about something.:cheer2:

Thank you, you have a great and safe trip also! idk about the time, seems like we are forgetting something lol. Maybe we will cross paths after all. I plan on sliding through POR so we can take the boat to DTD. Or maybe the way back. I'll have lime green Mickey heads all over me one on the camera bag, another on book bag and two more on the fiancé and the kid. So if you spot us say hi. I'd love to meet other dis members.

I completely agree with buzznina! We have always used South and it can get a little crazy in the morning but be patient, leave yourself enough time so you won't get stressed with the crowds and you'll be fine. We always take the seadoos out from the marina and ride to Downtown Disney and back. We get to sight see down the river and the kids LOVE it.
Our first trip, we didn't walk the resort at all. We jumped in the car for everything. Big mistake! Now we walk everywhere. You get the true feel of the resort that way.

I can't wait until March 9th. Whoever gets into their RGR first has to post pictures asap. :)

I really want to do the RGR for kid #2s sweet 16, but the AoA rooms are looking awesome as well. Not sure if we'd rather have a royal room with all of the awesomeness that POR has to offer or spend the extra money on a family suite at AoA for the kitchenette. I really would have liked to have a hot breakfast in the room before heading out in the mornings.

Have a great trip. Make the most at that wonderful Poly room you've got, and also the vastly reduced crowds which next week should bring once you're past this weekend.

Did you see Chelsea the Port Orleans greeter? She wears a pretty dress a hat and welcomes you to the resort? I watch all her videos on youtube!

Not sure if Chelsea still does the Greeter role now. She was on the College Program at the time, and I believe she now works in merchandise - but these things can change regularly of course.

I do have one question though. I want to call the room assigner at POR some days prior to our arrival; what is the specific number I need to call and who do I ask for when I do call?

Call 1-407-934-6000 and ask to speak directly to someone on the room allocation team (remembering that your initial call will be answered by a central WDW switchboard, so you will need to get them to transfer you to cast members actually at the resort). Good luck with your requests.

I saw the pictures of the murphy bed on this site, and now I can't find it... help anyone remember around where it was the page number?

There have been several posts with Murphy bed photos, but the Search Thread feature seems broken here at present, so it's hard to find them. Here's one for you anyway:

we arrive on march 10th. The rooms are due to be ready on the 9th! :cool1:

I will be sending pictures as soon as I can.

I ck in on the 10th but I think there is someone on here who cks in on the 9th? I just need to find out how to post pictures with my new phone before I get there. :rotfl:

I've got plenty of hosting space and bandwidth at portorleans.org in case anyone has problems getting pictures uploaded or posted. I've hosted Galleries for several people here on the DIS, partly to avoid PhotoBucket's account bandwidth restrictions which blanked out some very popular batches of images when the other room types were first opened.

Please feel free to contact me anytime and I'll let you know the easiest way to send me image files, and I'll do the rest to get the pictures up as soon as possible without taking up too much of your vacation time in doing it!

I can't wait to see the first Royal Room photos anyway! I've been told that there definitely won't be any soft openings at all, the whole building will open at one time rather than in stages. So the first guests to stay in the Royal Rooms will be on the night of 9th March.

We have a dinner reservation for the Spirit of Aloha Show on Saturday 3-10-12, what is the best route to get there from POR and how long should we allow for travel?
I just discovered this board and we are all rookies, so I'm sure I will have a ton more questions in the next 2 weeks before we check in for 8 wonderful nights on 3-9-12.
Thanks
