Port Orleans Riverside & Elevators

We're staying at Riverside the week after Thanksgiving, preferably in Alligator Bayou near the main pool. Do they have elevators? If not, do a lot of people request a room on the ground floor? Just wondering what my odds are of getting the room I request? We're coming with 2 small kids and not looking forward to carrying all our stuff up and down those stairs a couple times each day.

I believe the only moderate without elevators is the Caribbean Beach.

Port Orlean Riverside only has elevators in Magnolia Bend.
The AB buildings are 2 stories, and do not have elevators.

Thanks for the heads up So this is what I'm going to request. 2 bed rails, Alligator Bayou, ground floor, building 18. I know requests aren't guaranteed, but how likely am I to receive them? Should I be happy with just 1 or 2 on the list?

we always make requests at POR and usually several are able to be met. Ive only once had the exact buliding number be met once, but thats really not a big deal. Even if you check in and find out your room is upstairs or not where you want, upon check in you can ask and see if something else is available. GL and have a great trip, POR is our favorite!

It may be difficult - I always stay the week after Thanksgiving at POR. I was surprised when someone posted a few weeks ago, they called to do a ressie for the same week on the spur of the moment and POR was completely booked.

Good luck, but keep in mind, that families of five will get preference for those AB buildings and if someone with an ECV or wheelchair also requested first floor then they'd also take priority. If you don't get your request, just ask nicely at check in if you can be moved. They will usually try to accomodate you if they have the rooms available. Also remember that buildings 14 and 18 are the most requested buildings. We were told that a couple of years ago when we checked in and asked for those buildings. We had requested first floor buildings 14, 18, or 27 months before and had the CM add it was for medical reasons and my mom would be in an ECV. When we arrived we had been assigned to the back side of Acadia House. We asked very nicely if we could be moved to somewhere in the Bayou, but would need a first floor room because of the ECV. The very nice CM told us that 14 and 18 were the most requested buildings, but after checking and getting permission to move someone else that hadn't checked in yet, we were assigned a first floor room in building 18. I felt really bad about her moving someone else, but she said that requests are just that, requests and not to worry about it as they do it every day. She said she'd bump anyone for a family of five and parties of fewer than five for anyone handicapped. She had tried to move us into building 14, but couldn't because it was completely full of families of five and handicapped. This was during mid Sept, so not a busy time usually.

We have always stayed at POR and have had requested 2 rooms side by side and only once have we gotten a 2nd floor room. Hope this time is the same
