Hi what is your experience with the buses at POR. Do you have any tips?

I heard that the bus at the front entrance can be a lot fuller than waiting for a bus behind your room building. Which stop is better?

What is the longest time you have waited for a bus?
I wonder if I should take an Uber to MNSSHP. :scratchin

Hi what is your experience with the buses at POR.

We have always had very good bus service when staying at POR.

This page of Andre's awesome site should help answer your questions.

What is the longest time you have waited for a bus?

Under 20 minutes.

I would not recommend that. If you do, the Uber driver will have to drop you off at the Ticketing and Transportation Center. Then you'll have to wait in line for the monorail or boat over to MK. The bus from POR would drop you off right at the front gate of MK. If you did decide to Uber, I would suggest having the driver drop you off at the Contemporary Resort and then walk to MK.

I was at Riverside from 9/12-9/19. We were closest to the West Depot but sometimes would use the South Depot. The South depot was very busy, which led to a lot of crowds getting on the bus (with last arriving tending to get on the busses first). I liked getting on the bus at the stop by our room better. The busses have different routes so sometimes they would arrive first at the West Depot and we got onto an empty bus and other times they would be standing room only. The longest we waited for a bus was for Typhoon Lagoon on 9/15, we got to the bus stop at 9:30 and a bus did not come until 10:30. Most times it was approximately 30 minutes. I would still take the bus to MNSSHP. The busses can let you off right at the entrance so that will save you time.

There were times when the buses came in the front entrance and were so full in the morning that they never went to any of the other POR stops.

I didn't know that! Thank you for letting me know. I would have been disappointed.

The South Depot is best for all buses EXCEPT Magic Kingdom. The MK route starts at West Depot. We were stranded for 1.5 hours trying to get to MNSSHP in 2013 while bus after full bus passed us by at South Depot. I recommend you hoof it to West Depot for any MK trips.

Thanks so much for this tip!! :flower3:

There 9/4-9/12 only had one late bus. I can't say I have any complaints about the buses or we wouldn't have stayed there the last four trips.

We were there from 10/01-10/05 and the bus service was overall horrible. We waited almost an hour for a MK bus to go to MNSSHP (we were leaving early at 2pm too). Waited very long for other buses too. One day we waited almost 40 minutes for an Epcot bus. A couple of other days we were lucky on our bus, but others had been waiting almost an hour for their park. It seemed like each day one park was just off. I would make sure I gave myself at least an hour and a half before any dining reservations or fast passes leaving from this resort. Even though we loved our room and the grounds this experience was so bad we probably won't stay there again.

if you take a taxi/uber have them take you to the contemporary. from there you can take the walking path to the MK. not a bad walk

Transportation is hit and miss at ALL resorts. If I used our bad experiences to pick resorts, then I would have eliminated a LOT of resorts:) I have had trips that we only waited an average of 5 minutes and others where it was around 20+. Everyone talks about the monorail but that can be just as bad and much worse, like when we were stuck on it for 4 hours:( Even with all that, we still would rather use WDW transportation over driving our car to the parks.

We have stayed at riverside for past 2 stays. 2014 & 2015 in May. The only problem we had was early morning to MK. And it was only a 20 minute wait. East Depot.
Now to the other parks we had no problems. What really is bad when you are walking up to the depot and the bus you want JUST pulled away.

Just returned from POR a week ago. No problems going to the parks with buses. Never waited more then 10 minutes. We were in AB building 16 so we used the main bus stop all the time. I will say give your self a little extra time b/c on occasion you will pick up the other bus stops after the main stop and adds time to your commute.

Do you know what bus stop you were waiting at?

I don't think I will have a bus problem but I do have BOG reservations on that MNSSHP night. In case of major problem with the buses, would you recommend an Uber to Grand Florida and take the monorail from there?

That would be an option. I don't anticipate you needing to do that, but it would be smart to keep that as an option.

I've never had an issue with POR buses. We always used the stop closet to our room. It could get annoying sometimes with making different stops and trying to get off for your stop, but otherwise we didn't have a major issue.

Our longest wait was maybe ten minutes and that was when we were far back in line for a bus to MK at 8:00 on a day that it opened at 9:00, and it was during Spring Break.

I think you'll be fine making it to MNSSHP.

We have never had a problem with any of the stops there. We have stayed there 3 years in a row. Maybe the longest we waited was 15 minutes max.

Maybe they were just off last week but the waits were horrible. We usually used the East depot by our room. Our longest wait was 50 minutes for the Magic Kingdom (no full busses passed us by either. There were actually just no busses) but I heard other guests talking about much longer waits than this. I would say the average wait was around 20-25 minutes. Leaving a park our longest wait was a little over half an hour at Epcot at 3pm in the afternoon? There was a huge line for our resort and no lines for any other resort? Maybe they were training new drivers or something. I would just recommend if you have dining reservations giving yourself at least an hour and a half because if we hadn't we would have missed our BOG on our Halloween party night. Instead we only missed our pre dinner fast pass.
