im a middle aged lady and would like to know how this resort is like?? going with my husband this april and have never been here...thank u

POR is a very beautiful resort! It is also very large. Lots of winding, tree-lined paths. It is a great resort if you want somewhere peaceful to unwind at after a long day in the parks. I love POR!

I'm not sure what you consider "middle aged" (it seems to slide depending on your point of view), but I am 55 and my sister is 54 and we really enjoy the two Port Orleans resorts. Which one will you be staying at - Port Orleans Riverside (POR) or Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ)?

we just got back and loved it!
we're not middle aged, but in our mid- 20's.
it was very calm, quiet and pretty.
so if that sounds good- go for it!

Ill leave you with a pic- :)

Well I am in my mid 40's and my hubby is in early 50's and we love Port Orleans Riverside. We have stayed there several times. The Alligator Bayou area is beautiful. Very lush greenery. Quite and rarley saw alot of people. We too will be there in April and once again will stay in POR. Search the forums for pictures of POR . Many reports have said they loved it as well. You no doubt will like the piano man "Bob" in the lobby's lounge. ;)

we (my husband and i, both nearing the age of 30) just got back from POR last week and loved it. we stayed in the alligator bayou section. we were really far back in the resort and a decent walk to the food court and main buildings. but it was super quiet which is what we were looking for. and the grounds are beautiful there.

I am hoping to stay here for my 10th anniversary. We took a boat from DTD to the resort last year just to look aroung and I thought the grounds were so beautiful. I think most people would love the looks and feel of this resort. HTH!!

We stayed at Magnolia Terrace last time we went it was beautiful and we loved it. This time I plan on asking for Oak Manor or Parterre Place. We don't want to stay in Alligator Bayou. The boat to DTD is absolutely the best and the bus service to MK is good as well. Have a wonderful time on your trip.:wizard:

Beautiful photo, I'm also from just south of Boston but have been living in Maine for the last 15 years. Will you be doing a trip report. I'd love to see more photos. We leave on 4/30 for POR.

Thank you KristInWonderland - Which "mansion" did you stay in. I really, really want to stay in one of the mansions. I don't care for the looks of AB at all. We stayed at Magnolia Bend last time. The photos are beautiful.:flower3:

We have been staying at POR-FQ (not as spread out and we love the "Bourbon St. feel") It's a beautiful resort no matter which side you choose. You won't be disappointed!

Funny. I don't care for the looks of Magnolia Bend at all (it's okay to look at, I suppose but I don't want to be there.) I love the rustic/cozy feel of Alligator Bayou. I would never stay at Magnolia Bend.

We stayed in Parterre Place- it was the very last of the mansions in the very last unit.

I think Oak Manor would have put us a little closer to the walking bridge which would have been nice after our blisters! ;)

I really enjoyed it because after a long day at the parks it was nice to relax in quiet. I loved the plantation feel of it. I haven't stayed anywhere else so of course Im a bit biased. I didnt like the looks of AB as it reminded me of girl scout camp!

We stayed in Parterre Place at POR in January. We loved it!!! Actually, DH, 60, said this is his favorite resort and will go back with us if we agree to stay there! DS17 loved the grounds and the pools. DD16 loved the boat ride and eating at Boatwrights. As for me, 40, I loved the peacefulness of it all. The mansions are beautiful and I can't imagine staying in a different section. We wer close to everything. Right across the bridge was the marina, bus stop, and the restaurants.

I think that covers about all ages that loved it!!!

I've read that AB is quieter than Magnolia Bend.

WE just got back from POR last week. We were in the alligator bayou section . Our travel agent had them put us in that section because my husband is handicapped. We were in building 14 it is as close to the dining and bus stops as possible. We had a beautiful view of the river and ducks every morning. I had started a thread just like you about a month ago. and everyone assured me I would love POR. It exceeded my expectations and I told my husband this is probably my favorite and most beautiful place to stay of all our vacations we have even rented beach house that I did not like as much as this. I liked because it was so nice and quiet and the mansions were so beautiful they looked like the old south. If you go to boatwrights they have a very good breakfast especially the banana stuffed french toast.

I forgot to add in my previous post. I am 50 and my husband is 53. I guess that is middle aged. We both loved everything about POR. My favorite thing was the relaxing boat ride to downtown.
