I know what the dragon slide is at the POFQ. I am looking into staying at the riverside for the other half of our vacation and was told there is a slide there also.

1)Is it a "small" slide like the Dragon slide on the POFQ side, or is it bigger?

2) I was told the "Bayou" section of the riverside is the best area. Does everyone agree that is the place to stay if we go there?

Yes, the slide at POR Ole Man Island is on the smallish side. It was my dd's first water slide at the ripe ole age of 6!!! She loved it. But now that she is a veteran slider having stayed at BWV and BCV, she thinks it's too short and small!! But it is still enjoyable.
As far as room location goes..it's a matter of preferance. The Bayou section is very laid back and almost rustic. The blgs are only 2 levels. But the area is a bit more spread out than Magnolia Bend. The Magnolia Bend area has the mansions. Much more formal, but more clumped together. I have stayed in bldg 35 in the Bayou, bldg 14 in Bayou and in Magnolia Terrace. Loved them all. My only problem with bldg 14 was that because it was so close to the food court and the buses I didn't get as much chance to just walk around and enjoy my surroundings!!! If I had to make a choice between the two areas, I think I would go with AB. And that surprises me, since I would have thought, originally, that I would prefer the mansion section!!!

The slide is comparable to the one at POFQ. My son 11 likes the one at POR better. When asked why, he says, "just because." We prefer the room decor of the mansion side (magnolia bend). However, I like the look of the quiet pools in the buyou better than the ones at the mansions.

Here is a good photo of slide at Ole Man Island at the Suite Disney site. Can't post a link. My kids always liked it and thought the FQ one looked babyish. It zig zags through shrubbery as opposed to being in the open so I think it just is alittle more exciting. You go up to the treehouse and get on there.

Mansions are beautiful inside and out, formal, feminine and adult like. The gardens are lovely. The pools are more like high end apartment complex pools.

AB are more rustic and fun in theme but are just as nice to stay in. We love the lush landscape and privacy. The bogs, bridges and croaking frogs all keep the theme going. We loved the free form quiet pools here that were great for a late night swim. More families.

Footprint of resort is round and I wouldn't pick either theme based on location.
