I was looking for some info on the Port Orleans Resort. I'll be taking my wife there for New Years. What are some of the features the hotel offers? Also, is there a restaurant and a food court? Thanks!

That depends on which area you stay in. If you are at Port Orleans French Quarter then you don't have a sit-down restuarant. I'm not sure about the food court but I would think there would be one. It is the smaller of the two resorts and probably more adult but don't hold me to that!!!

Port Orleans Riverside is split into two sections...Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou. The AB area is very rustic in feel and more spread out. The Magnolia Bend area is more formal, southern mansion type. THere is a sit down restuarant at POR and also a food court. We have only stayed at POR, once in each section. I don't have a favorite area there. There is a nice lounge area at POR. If Piano Man Bob is playing be sure to stop by. It's a great time. The main pool is nice but it may be a little chilly for swimming. The thing that I like about POR is that you can take a boat to Downtown Disney. It's a nice way to get there and very romantic.

POFQ has a food court...though nothing great

and the boat runs to POFQ and POR

there is only a sit down restaurant at POR, but its an easy walk from POFQ...we did it one morning for breakfast and it was a 5 minute walk....and the stuffed french toast at boatwrights is AMAZING

Actually POR has a food court and a restaurant, both very good. Banana stuffed french toast is amazing!! The food court has a bakery and pizza (eat in or take out) lots to choose from on the menu's. Take a carriage ride while you are there, very romantic! The grounds are beautiful to stroll through. Have a great time! We have stayed twice and loved it!

I was wondering about the carriage ride. How long is the ride? Is it only through the hotel grounds? What is the cost? Sorry for all the questions. :smooth:

This is the information from Deb Wills site about carriage rides, if you do take a ride I would love to hear your thoughts on it! We are taking our third trip at the end of January and have never experienced this.

Thanks
Melinda

Take an evening horse and carriage ride through the French Quarter and Riverside regions of Disney's Port Orleans Resort. The 30-minute carriage rides start in front of Boatwright's Dining Hall nightly. The first ride departs at 6 p.m., and the last ride departs at 9:30 p.m. Each carriage can accommodate as many as four adults or two adults and two or three children. Each ride costs $30 including tax. Cash and Walt Disney World resort guest room charges will be accepted. Early reservations are recommended, make them at the Riverside Marina near the main building. Carriage rides may be canceled due to inclement weather.
