Hello Friends,

My sister was just moved to PO as an upgrade from All Stars and does not know anything about PO. Can you please give me the scoop so that I can relay?

Thank you!!!

Awesome pool and food court. I'm assuming Riverside and not French Quarter. She can also reserve a horse drawn carriage ride in the evenings. It's a lot of fun, too.

Hello Again,

Just found out that she was placed in the French Quarter...thank you in advance for the tips!

:flower3:

Riverside is beautiful. My favorite resort. Awesome pool, food court is great and the grounds are beautiful. I love the boat to downtown disney! The rooms are bigger than value resorts, which also include two sinks. (Which we love as a family of four!) She will love it!

There is a dedicated thread to both POR and POFQ that contains a great deal of info.

For the French Quarter, there is some music at the bar area in the evenings. I haven't checked that out yet.

Try the beignets for a snack or breakfast.

She can use the pool at Riverside if she wants. French Quarter and Riverside are sister resorts so it's allowed if you are staying at either of those 2 resorts. There is a walking path between Riverside and French Quarter or she could take the boat to Riverside. I think walking is faster.

There is a boat that goes to DTD too. I love using that rather than the bus when I go.

Riverside also has make your own pasta and make your own salad at the food court if she wants to go there to try them out. Both are good. I don't know if French Quarter has that.
Riverside also has YeeHaw Bob at the bar in the evenings. He's great fun.

If she has internet access, she should skim www.portorleans.org for info on the French Quarter and Riverside resorts. She'll find tons of info there.

We have stayed there twice and love it. Much smaller resort, so there really isn't a badly located room.

There is only one bus stop, which is not a problem. Sometimes they share buses with POR, which can be, but at least POFQ loads first.

The boat to DTD at the back of the resort is an added bonus.

The pool is on the smaller side, but there is a slide.

Overall, it is one of our favorites.

We are doing a split stay this year and still hitting POFQ. My husband wouldn't have it any other way.

French Quarter is our very favorite resort! We have stayed in value, mod, deluxe & home away from home ... FQ is great! Small in size; good bus service; love the boat to DTD! Enjoy!!!

French Quarter is also a favorite of ours. We love how small the resort is and we have rarely had to share buses with Riverside, so that has made the transportation great.

It is beautifully themed and I really enjoy the French Quarter look as you walk around the grounds. I think the theme at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory is fun and the beignets are always a must in our book. We enjoyed some at a local cajun restaurant just the other day.

I think they will enjoy it. In 54 days we will be back at POFQ ourselves, :cool1: !!

A fellow DISer runs this site portorleans.org keep it bookmarked and if your sister has any questions, you will find the answer here. It has detailed maps and info about transportation. If she has time, she should look into booking a horse & carriage ride :goodvibes
