POR is our favorite moderate --beautiful landscaping, watercraft to Disney Springs, RiverRoost bar with entertainment, good food court, good bus service, very nice pool and 5 quiet pools and a theming choice for your room.

Each has its own appeal. If I am on a trip where I am primarily doing parks or if I am with someone with mobility issues, I'd go with POFQ. It is so much easier to get around and the bus service is super convenient. We are perfectly happy in a standard room.

If I am on a trip with super healthy people who want to spend some time enjoying the resort, then I go with POR. It definitely has nicer grounds and I far prefer the theming and the food court. We also have to bring a bit more patience due to the five bus stops. There is no way I'd stay there with my Mom, with her current mobility issues. It would be too hot, tiring, and painful for her to walk back and forth to some of those standard rooms, and if we are having to pay the big upcharge for a preferred room, we might as well pay a bit more and go with AKL or WL.

POR!

- Yehaa Bob
- AB is beautiful nestled in the forest
- main pool is less kiddie
- not important to anyone else, but the FQ style of brick and roofline reminds me too much of the student apartment I lived in during my sophomore year (1975-76), see attached photo:

I absolutely love Riverside. I find walking the grounds to be absolutely peaceful and the rooms are beautiful. I love staying in a Royal Guest Room with the fireworks on the headboard. I feel right at home whenever I set foot on the grounds. French Quarter holds absolutely no appeal for me. I don't care for the theme and don't think it is as lovely as Riverside. The small size is nice, sure, but I feel like I'm never far from a bus stop at Riverside and don't mind the multiple stops. And, if there is something I want at French Quarter such as the beignets or the pool (you can use either pool if you are staying at either of the Port Orleans resorts), it's a simple walk there.
Completely agree. I couldnt have said it any better than this. FQ holds no appeal to me either. I like the smallness of the resort, but thats about it. POR has a much more beautiful landscape in my opinion....so serene. The food court overall is better at POR in my opinion....and i love the fact that the boat to dis.springs picks up at POR first. Often at POFQ the boat would be too full to pick up everyone. So those left behind have to wait for the next boat. As for buses, no matter where you stay in POR there's a bus stop nearby.

Beignets are POFQ are awesome....its a lovely walk over if you ever have a craving for some.

I've stayed at both, about one month apart (October 2014 and November 2014) Both times it was an adults only trip (POR I was solo and POFQ I brought an adult friend.)
I thought POR was more beautiful. Although I didn't eat at the table service restaurant, I liked that it was an option. I liked that POR had quiet pools in addition to the main feature pool.
I mostly have read people preferring POFQ for it's small size/less walking, but I actually enjoyed walking around the grounds of POR.

We have stayed at both. POR twice & FQ once. Both times with our kiddos. I would have to say their vote would be POR. They loved the pool there and although our AB room was a longer walk to the main building, we actually really enjoyed it. The paths are winding and shaded and it was just lovely! Our room with the fold down bed was perfect too so our two kids didn't have to share a bed. The multiple bus stops didn't bother us one bit, it was a great resort.

That being said, FQ my parents loved more because of the size. Getting around was quick and easy especially after a long day in the parks. They did feel the food choice was a bit limiting but it was easy to take the boat to Disney Springs for a wider food selection too:)
