Last year we did the carriage ride at POR that took us over to the FQ and I immediately fell in love!At that moment DH and I decided that our next trip would be to the FQ.
My only hesitation is the pool. We've stayed at POR and CBR which both had great pools that my DS 10 loved. For those who have stayed at the other mods, were your kiddies happy with the FQ pool? We use the pool almost every day for a mid afternoon break and I'm worried that he will be bored with it.
I do not get the issues you and other people mention with kids (not toddlers) at the POFQ pool - CSR and POR pools both only have one slide each... really not getting the difference at all... now if you were talking compared to the CBR - that pool area is far more interesting with 3 slides, zero entry and the awesome pirate ship in the kiddie pool which blows all other kiddie pools outta the water - my DS7 would still think that was cool and playpirates if there were not too many mini-mates around. But regarding the POFQ pool, having not yet been to this resort, I would really like someone to help me understand why this pool is constantly thought of/assumed on the DIS as less fun for kids than those at POR and CSR.
Thanks,

them at the pastry counter. It is the far left counter as you face the various windows. The beignets are cooked to order so there will be a couple of minutes wait.
Thanks for your answer - I see that the slide is about 120 feet versus 51ft - I can see a 12 year old thinking it was too short and too young in theme. I am thinking my kids will be just fine at 7 and 5 - they can have fun in any pool! Seeing the pics has them excited. So not looking forward to the day when my kids start getting bored with stuff...I love POFQ, but the pool is one of it's weak points. The slide is very short and very kiddish. Even though it's always been very crowded when we've been there, CBR has the better main pool. CSR also has a great main pool with probably the longest slide of the moderates. If I was taking my 3 y/o gandson I'd pick the pool at POFQ, but if I was taking my 6 y/o grandson, I'd pick the pool at CSR. He'd be bored very quickly with the slide at POFQ.
Got back Friday from 6 days at POFQ and I'm officially experiencing the post-vacay blues. I miss it all so much!
Our stay was WONDERFUL. This was my 3rd time at POFQ but it's a while between trips for me (1992 & 2002). We got rooms on the first floor of Building 1, looking right at the courtyard fountain. Brought back some nice memories of our honeymoon as we had a corner, riverview room in Building 1 then.
I've got absolutely no complaints. Housekeeping was great, resort staff was awesome, our room was comfortable (though am I the only one that feels like the new Queen-sized beds are awfully small??? They just seemed narrower than our Queen at home). Bus service was FAB-U-LOUS!!! Never waited more than 5 minutes our entire stay.
I'd love to try some new resorts just to experience the different theme-ing but I don't know whether I'll ever be able to stay somewhere else than POFQ. It just feels right for us & has everything we want (compact size, good bus service, reasonable rates).
Counting down until January 2015 now...![]()
So how do I book an evening carriage ride? Is this something one needs to do before leaving home or do you do it once you arrive at the hotel, or even the same day you wish to do the ride? We will be there two weeks before Easter.
How often and how long do they go? Can 2 adults and 2 kids ride or should I leave the kids with Grandpa and Grandma?

Good Evening FQ lovers!
I just got off the phone from making changes to my Free Dining trip Oct. 2012....I was originally booked at the POLY, GV Club Level, but due to both my older teen sons wanting to join me on what started out as a girls only trip with my best friend and myself....well....the price was getting a little high over at the POLY for the 4 of us. Even with upgrading my dining plan to DLX, my new reservation total comes to approx $1,000.00 less than what I was paying to stay club level at the POLY. I also like the fact that at FQ, we will have 2 rooms and the boys can have their own private space, as can my friend and I.

I have never stayed at a mod before, am always a deluxe gal at heart...make that deluxe WITH club level, so this is new territory for me....the rooms look lovely though, and the resort looks quaint, I really love the cobblestone streets, and new orleans feel, and the river running behind...so picturesque! With the fact that we downgraded to a mod (my boys are fine with this downgrade, as my oldest stated..."we are only there to sleep")...I chose to upgrade us to deluxe dining as we will be foregoing club level....this will allow us to try some great signatures without paying out of pocket...as well give those growing teen boys enough snacks to keep themselves happy
the only downside to the resort, is the pool is so small, but I figure we can head over to POR to try the bigger slide and pool/arcade if the boys wish.
I paid the upgraded view fee for a riverview room. I am hoping this extra fee is worth paying for a room facing the river?? I also requested blg. 5 or 6....from reviews I've read it seems people like these blg's for river views? Anyone whose had a river view, can you comment on what blg. you liked and if you felt the upgrade was worth the cost?
Even though this was a downgrade in resort category, I am excited to be trying Dlx dining for the first time and POFQ with the new refurbs! I look forward to planning with you all over the next yr!
