Thanks Andre, great pic! I'm not so concerned about the view as much as I am easy access to that gorgeous pool! Ground floor works best for us, I wonder if it'll cost more?

Ground floor is cheaper (as it's not classed as water view) but there are no guarantees that you'll be in those few rooms that you need - you could be placed anywhere in the resort.

Andre

So my 3 wishes are:
1. Bldgs 2 or 5
2. Water (Pool) view
3. Ground floor

I understand that it's just a request and that I'll get whats available at the time I check in. Thanks for the quick feedback!

I have read all 235 pages of this thread over the last few days. And have been on Andre's site many times too!!! Booked my room at POFQ this morning for 2/25-3/1!!!!! :dance3: I am so excited to stay at this beautiful resort. I chose it because it is so small and pretty and seems to have good transportation. It is just my DH and I so I wanted a resort that would be a nice break from the parks. And I want to try a beignet!!!!!!!
No questions yet, but I have loved learning from everyone on here and reading the mini trip reports and seeing all the pictures. So thank you and keep it up!!!!:rotfl:

Yes, it's called Water View. That will give you a room overlooking the pool on the second or third floors of buildings 2 or 5 (not ground floor though, as the view is partially obscured by a fence from there).

If you look out of your window you should see something like this:

Wow!! Awesome picture!! Thank you for posting this!! I love POFQ!! I can't wait to go back!!

Hello again. Anyone stay at both POP and POFQ? One of the things we have always loved about POP was that the buses always seem to be the most direct (no other stops.) DH and I stayed at FQ in 2001 and I remember spending a lot of time on the buses. We have an 8 am ADR for Akershus one morning and I just want to be sure that we make it on time.

It's been awhile since I've stayed at POP, but I have stayed at both and much prefer POFQ. In fact, POFQ and CSR are my two favorite resorts, even over the Deluxes I have stayed in. POFQ does usually share buses (except going to MK), but POFQ is usually the first stop, so you should get a seat.

My husband and I took our 3 y/o grandson down there Feb 4th-11th and stayed at POFQ. We did the DxDDP so had a character breakfast every day but one. We never had a problem making our early morning ADRs. We had several around 8:00am. Just be at the bus stop about an hour prior to your ADR. Yes, that early morning character bus will stop at all the stops at PORS, but usally 0-2 families is all that get on. Those buses are pretty much empty that early in the morning and the driver never stops for more than a minute or so. You'll be fine.

Don't book or ask specifically for 'Water View' as that means 2nd or 3rd floor room, ask "for ground floor facing swimming pool".

Andre

Good tip, although remember if you are right ON the pool thee wont be much peace and quiet during the day if you are around and want quiet.

Since it is going to be you and your DH, you may want to reserve a horse drawn carriage ride. The carriages depart from the marina area at Port Orleans Riverside, and can be reserved in increments of 30 minutes. You might find this a pleasant way to tour both resorts just prior to sunset. Happy Planning. We love POFQ! pixiedust:

Stayed at POFQ in early March. My experience for room requests is to check in early in the day. Because of flight delays, etc., we arrived at around 11 PM and had requested Bldg 5 2nd or 3rd floor. We were given ground floor, and it was a wheelchair access room. We didn't know that until we walked into the room. (FYI, this means a HUGE bathroom with roll-in shower (no tub) and only 1 sink. The extra space for the bathroom is taken from the rest of the room. Instead of a closet area beside the 2 sinks, you get an armoir in the sleeping area. With 2 teens, one of the reason for POFQ was the 2 sinks, etc.) We were told it was the only room available that night.

Our daughter was sick when we arrived because of the horrible flight and she just laid down in the lobby area while we tried to find a bell-person to take our bags, but none were available, and they wouldn't let me take a cart by myself! It was almost midnight when we got into our unacceptable room. While DD was laying in the lobby sick, Elliot Dyson (who is fantastic under normal circumstances!) was blaring his music full blast. I had to almost yell to talk with the front desk people.

The next day they found us a regular room on the 3rd floor, but we waited 1/2 hour for bell services to come get our bags (you must be in the room when they arrive), and we just wanted to get to ther parks. When we got back late that night, we had to call bell services to bring us our bags to our new room, because, again, you must be there to receive your bags. That took another 1/2 hour and we just wanted to get to bed. SO it ended up being the morning of day 3 before we actually unpacked.

Moral of the story is: they give out the rooms first-come, first-serve and if you're in late, good luck to you!

Oh yeah, the package with discount coupons and luggage tags didn't come to us in the mail at home. It was delivered to our room at the end of day 3. Unfortunately most of the coupons were for DTD and we just returned from there.

I also forgot to mention the ME express ride in from MCO. I think the driver was new, because he spend the first 10 minutes trying to figure out how to turn on the DVD player, and almost hit a guardrail while trying. He then dropped us off at Bell services instead of the front door, so we had to lug our bags and sick DD into the lobby without a cart. Its not that far, but under the circumstances it was not pleasant.

From that point on, the trip was great, but it was a horrible start.

Sorry you had such a bad start to your trip, and that your DD was poorly.

You're right that unless a room has been specifically pre-blocked out for you for some reason, the current 'Ready Room' system appears to mean that guests tend to get allocated whatever room is available in their category at the time they check in. The resorts seem to prefer to allocate most rooms that way as it means that a guest checking in at (say) 6am may well be able to be given a room there and then rather than being told to come back at 3pm when 'their' room is ready. The downside, as you found out, is that if the resort is very full, late-arriving guests don't get a lot of choice.

It was a wheelchair access room. We didn't know that until we walked into the room. (FYI, this means a HUGE bathroom with roll-in shower (no tub) and only 1 sink. The extra space for the bathroom is taken from the rest of the room.

The bathroom is the same size as all the other rooms, it's just laid out as 'open plan' for wheelchair guests. The reason that there is a wardrobe in the main bedroom area is that the re-configuration of the bathroom means that the toilet is located where the hanging rail would otherwise be. You do get extra space in the main bedroom by the way, as they have 'bumped out' the normal recessed section by the front door.

I also forgot to mention the ME express ride in from MCO. He then dropped us off at Bell services instead of the front door, so we had to lug our bags and sick DD into the lobby without a cart.

The idea could have been to allow you to just leave your bags at Bell Services rather than having to lug them anywhere, and they would just bring them to your room once you've checked in, so probably not the ME driver's fault as such. (ME drivers are not employed by Disney though). It obviously didn't work out that way for you though.

I am sorry your trip didn't work out as planned in the beginning. I am happy to hear that it turned out ok in the end.

Andre, if you don't mind me asking you a question, please! Concidering she is stating that the rooms go first come first serve, and we are flying in late, should we do online check in? Does that help? We have two "guaranteed" connecting rooms for our family of six, but I have read on the DIS boards that there really is no "guarantee" even though it says just that on our reservation. Our flight into MCO doesn't land until 9pm, so I don't think we will get to POFQ until 10:30 or so. Will online check in help us get our connecting rooms? Or should I just wait until we show up that night? I don't care where our rooms are, what floor, or what building, just that my family can be together while on vacation. That is our only request. Thank you!

It's been over 2 years since my one and only stay at POFQ and it was during January. Over the course of our 9 day stay, we shared the bus with POR twice. A lot of posts I've come across asking about whether or not the resorts share buses seem to get answered with that they "always" share now.

I figured I'd come to this thread and ask the real experts. :goodvibes Is this the case?

Thank you

I am a little confused by the pp stating that they had to be in the room for their luggage to be delivered. Is this just something specific to POFQ or something new? I have had our bags arrive while not in the room at Pop. At YC we happened to be in the room when the bags were brought. On our second time at Pop we also were in the room when they arrived. At POR, because we arrived after DME was done for the day so we took our own bags from baggage claim. At WL, we had the bags transferred over from Pop and we had to go to bell services to get them/have them brought to the room.

So I guess my question is... if we arrive and then go out to dinner... or are not in the room for some reason when our luggage arrives from the airport will we not come back to find them in the room?

We stayed at POFQ for 6 nights at the beginning of March. That entire week, we only stopped at POR twice. One time heading back to Epcot after taking an afternoon break and then the early morning bus to MK for early ADRs.

Only Magical Express luggage deliveries can be left in an empty room. Otherwise, either for collections from rooms or deliveries to rooms, the guest has to be present to check them.

Hi, this is my first message! We just got back from a week at the French Quarter and we loved it! We shared the bus with Riverside when we returned from Downtown Disney, and we did make all the Riverside stops first. We never stopped at Riverside when we were going to the parks early in the day. Also, when returning from the parks, if we did share with Riverside, we always stopped at the French Quarter first.

The year that we stayed at WL there was a photopass photographer in the lobby to take pictures. Is this available at POFQ or is this just a deluxe resort thing?
