We are sailing on the Wonder in March and flying into FLL the night before our cruise. We have done 3 cruises but this will be our first out of Miami. Need help on choosing hotel close to that airport with transportation and also transportation options to the port. Also planning on staying one night after the cruise and want a family friendly hotel on the beach. Any advice would be appreciated!!

our cruise is next month and we will be flying into FLL and staying at the hyatt place. taking gomjstrans to the port the next morning

We did the "Go Port Canaveral" website package. For one low fee, you will be picked up at the airport, taken to your hotel, picked up at your hotel the next morning (or whenever you sail out), take you to Port Canaveral to your ship, then picks up you upon your return and takes you to the airport! I thought this was super convenient way to eliminate several reservations AND we saved money!

We stayed at the Homewood Suites Blue Lagoon near the airport. It offered a free shuttle to/from the airport, free dinner with wine and free breakfast and internet. It was close-ish to the market for wine too. We used Uber to the port and it was less than $5 since it was my husband's first time using the company.

We are cruising in October and were originally booked at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami, but in a recent thread, folks were talking about booking the Miami Intercontinental for $85 on Hotwire (it's one of those mystery type things, you aren't suppose to know what it is). I cancelled my reservation with Holiday Inn and booked on Hotwire. We are flying into FLL and using SAS Transportation from FLL to our hotel and then cab from the hotel to the ship. When we return, we'll take SAS from the port to the airport. There are quite a few recent threads about Miami, plus one really big all encompassing thread. If you look back a few pages, many are fairly recent since things are heating up out of Miami pretty soon with both the Magic and the Wonder returning there after being in Europe and Alaska (respectively).

We are doing this as well...we booked it for $83/night. We are doing Uber from FLL, instead of the shuttle...cheaper!

We are considering using Uber too. By any chance do you know if they have car seats?

What does Uber charge to pick you up at FL airport and take you to a hotel that's close to Port of Miami? Just a ballpark price helps.

I was just reading the other Miami hotels thread and someone said Uber isn't in Fort Lauderdale at the moment. IDK...probably worth confirming.

Yes, as Lizabu said, apparently Uber and Ft. Lauderdale are having problems, and for right now, they aren't operating there. The poster did say there is talk of coming to an agreement, so who knows. We may end up having to take a shuttle to Miami. When I checked before, we were quoted around $25 I think to get from airport to downtown Miami.

They did not have a carseat for us...BUT it is not illegal for a child to ride without a carseat in a "car for hire" or other chauffeured vehicle. I contacted Miami-Dade police to confirm. We did not use a carseat.

I'm not sure about car seats and SAS. I emailed them to ask but haven't heard back. Did anyone use a car seat with SAS? I know it's not required but...

I'm intrigued at using hotwire to try to get Miami Intercontinental, but don't really understand. I've never done this before. I tried looking on betterbidding, but that even has me confused. Anyone able to offer me clear advice or how to get started on this.

1. Visit Hotwire.com
2. Enter Miami, FL as your destination, your check in/out dates and number in your party and click "Find a Hotel"
3. Click the first result "Downtown Miami area Hotel"
The description will read:
60% OFF
Downtown Miami area hotel
95% recommended by Hotwire guest
4.5 out of 5
Booked 16 times today
This hotel typically charges guests a resort fee of about USD10 per room per night

It should be around $85/night. For the dates I was checking, it was $87. Continue with the booking (I can't give you these steps as I have no desire to make another booking. Once you're done, it SHOULD be the Intercontinental. It might not be. It might be some other 4.5 star hotel in the same area. Even if it isn't the Intercontinental, it's still in the same area and is a 4.5 star hotel for $85ish so it's still killer. Good luck!

Thanks. I'm guessing maybe there is no availability my date as I do not have any 4.5 star hotels in Downtown Miami on November 19-20. :(
