Port excursions on mediterranean cruise

We are going on the 7 day mediterranean cruise in August.
Any tried and tested NON-DCL port excursions or insight on how to best navigate the cities.
We are a group of 19 so the DCL excursions will be very pricey for us.

I always go on trip advisor and look at reviews, then book privately. I can't speak to the Med, but I did this for our Norway/Iceland/Scotland cruises and our upcoming Western Caribbean cruise with great success. We always received better service and better prices.

We used shareashoreexcursion.com on our Med cruise 2 years ado and had great experiences. They're small groups, you can either create a group and specify the maximum size or join a group someone else created. We did groups of 8 -12 and all of our drivers/guides were great and very flexible.

We booked a private car in Naples using romeinlimo.com - you have to create your own itinerary but I see that as an advantage. Great service and highly recommend.

Title bit confusing to deal with the woman answering their mail, but I have heard great things about the drivers.
