Has anyone booked port excursions independently?
We are hoping to do the Dolphin swim at Blue Lagoon Island and I have found it is cheaper to book directly with them. Is it safe to do so?
Also, has anyone been to casinos in Nassau? My husband was wanting to visit one but don't want to travel too far, if we have time left at all.
Planning a trip in another country is tough, maybe I should have gone with a travel agent lol!

Thanks for your help! :beach:

At least a couple of years ago, they would not allow independent bookings from a cruise ship - so to do that you would have to lie about your point of origin and get yourself there and back.

Oh, okay.
This is our first time cruising and we just booked. Didn't know that wasn't allowed, just made sense to go the cheapest route.
You are only allowed to go certain places while at the port?

You can go wherever. It was Blue Lagoon that was not allowing cruise passengers to book independently. Apparently there is a place for where you're staying or something on the form - I don't know...I haven't done it, but I remember people trying a couple of years ago and the BL people flat out saying that cruise passengers had to book through the cruise line.

That makes sense.
Thank you for the help!

You absolutely can book the Dolphin Encounter on your own. I just did three weeks ago!

I know there are options to book thru the individual resorts as well as DCL (and I believe there are transfers from those resorts to the ferry terminal). You can book it however you wish!

Yup, it was cheaper to book on our own. We did pay for a taxi to take us to the ferry terminal, but on the way back, our ferry dropped us off very close to the cruise pier so we didn't need a taxi.
