Port Everglades Pearl PAT

When I cruised out of Miami last September the cast members checking PATs outside the terminal were unaware of the policy change where Pearl could arrive any time. I frustratingly worked thru that and was able to go in with only a slight delay. I was wondering if any Pearl members have cruised out of Port Everglades and if they encountered any issues with this issue.

I haven't heard anything official on that "perk". According to DCL's website Pearl do have to choose a PAT. One of the Pearl perks is listed as...

• Select port arrival times and complete online check-in 40 days prior to sailing

That to me sounds like we still need to choose a PAT but we get first dibs. I will be doing this in under a month (for a Ft Lauderdale cruise) so I'm looking forward to having first hand experience to see how it plays out.

We checked in for our last cruise, right before the Pearl perks were set into place (I got a BG 6 that was automatically changed to 2, but still had a PAT if I remember right). And like I said, my next check in is under a month away. I'm glad I know what to expect now....and staying up til midnight may not be necessary.

Do you know if the cast members there are aware of this policy? Also, can you tell me the earliest time I can arrive?

I am so sorry that you had that challenge at the port.

All Cast members should be aware of this policy. The Pearl category was a bit new last year. For our Pearl members, Early Access to Select Port Arrival Times. The port opens at 11 AM. Platinum and Pearl members can embark the ship at their leisure after boarding begins.

Doing one in August and was curious myself

I saw this and said to myself, "Hmmmm." (Really, I did). We board Magic on Friday and was hopeful we got our Platinum perk back for our 23rd cruise. (insert eyeroll here). I called DCL - thank goodness for speakerphones - and asked if the above was correct. The VERY perky CM put me on hold and came back saying that it was. Hooray! I asked about the particulars as our port arrival form didn't say that we got out of jail free. Again with the hold. This was a long one. 5 songs worth. Again, thank you speakerphone. She perkily came back informing me that she checked another section of her online database which was in conflict with the first section so she called her supervisor for clarification. Who called her supervisor. Who informed all from on high that the first section of their online CM FAQs was incorrect; only Pearl gets the Arrive Any Time, Board Any Time perk. She was perkily apologetic about the mixup, and tried to console me that an 11:45 PAT and BG 6 is really great after all...

Thank goodness Pearl is around the corner. It's not a huge perk, but sure would be nice to get that one back. Our first Pearl cruise will be on Treasure this time next year.

That certainly makes more sense and is also why I wrote back to double check what was in the first response. I guess third time is the charm.

Our next cruise as Pearl is out of San Juan. I’m assuming the CMs will know the policy!

Just sailed on the fantasy as platinum. We COULD NOT arrive and enter the terminal at our leisure. Our PAT was checked by cast members just like everyone else’s. We entered the terminal with our group just like normal.
