Does anyone know how much the preferred parking is at the Port Canaveral terminal?

DCL Preferred Parking Upgrade – $20 for length of stay.

Port Canaveral also offers “Preferred Parking” at the terminal. What does preferred parking provide for the extra $20? Basically, not much besides parking on the same side of the street as the terminal.

note that the preferred parking is an open lot, while most standard parking is in a garage ..... if you want your car out of the sun ......

the price I found is on a post several years old ... the port's page does not mention preferred parking as so far as I know, only the DCL terminal has it ...

Very good point. We've actually used the preferred parking a couple of times, but I'm doubting I'd do it again. The garage really isn't that much further.

We always park in the preferred lot. It is very convienent and we find it worth the extra 20.00 bucks.
We live in Orlando, so we are used to the car being in the sun and when we leave at 8:00 AM or so on debarkation morning it is not all that hot anyway. Nothing a little air conditioning won't fix. :)

Other than a little walking time, is there a benefit to the preferred parking? Does it have a better (faster) entrance or exit?

The preferred lot is the open lot between the terminal & the parking structure (may or may not save you some time):

You still must enter the terminal through the same door as anyone parking in the structure. That door is located (roughly) under that bridge from the parking structure to the terminal.

Sorry, I meant entrance or exit from the parking lot by car. Is it easier or just the same to park or to be on your way afterward, like a separate entrance/exit?

It appears the entrance/exit to the preferred lot is in the lower right of the picture (see the little blue roof?)

And the entrance to the parking structure - well, see where the two buses are just up to the right from the preferred lot entrance? The bus on the right is just past the 3 lane entrance. I'm not sure where the exit to the structure is, but it's most likely in the upper right (behind the ship).

It looks from your picture like there are parts of the preferred lot that are farther than the regular parking garage. Great picture, by the way.

I find the extra $20 to be worth it. You walk out of Customs and you are at your car in 60 seconds.

Yes, it's absolutely frivolous, but a.) the additional $20 is - what? - an extra 0.5% (or less) of your cruise fare; and b.) if you're about to embark on a long drive home, you probably just want to get in your car and get going ASAFP.

Is the handicapp parking in the garage or near the preferred lot?

The entrance or exit isn't significantly easer in the preferred lot.

Also, there are handicap accessible spaces in both the preferred lot and the garage.

I like the garage. In the case a crazy storm comes through, at least my car is somewhat protected parking in the middle.
