Port Canaveral Shore Excursions

Alright DISers, I'm looking for advice. We're going on the NCL Gem this summer out of New York and it stops in Port Canaveral for a day. NCL wants $174 per person for what would probably be 7 or 8 hours at Disney. I LOVE Disney but that just isn't worth it for me. We're not lay out on the beach people so, what else is there to do in Port Canaveral?

When we arrived two days early for our cruise a few years ago, we went kayaking to see the manatee and Mangroves with http://finexpeditions.com/. At $30 per person for a 2 hour kayak tour, it is excellent value for the money. We would highly recommend them and they receive an excellent rating on Trip Advisor.

Port Canaveral is a cruise / general cargo working port.

The locals fish from the Quayside & there are about 2 eating places . Thats about it.

It is about 7 miles from CoCoa Beach. which goes on for miles & is about a half mile wide

So your choices are limited
( A ) Take the excursion to Disney ( Over an hours drive each way )

( B ) If there is an excursion to Kennedy Space Center ......( about 30 min Drive each way ) Take it.

(C ) Otherwise stay on board ..... but take a walk onshore to take photos of The Gem
