I know PORS is supposed to be a very large resort, but exactly how big are we talking about?

1. How long would it take to walk from the furtherest building to the main building? Which is the furtherest building?

2. What is the order of the bus stops?

3. Is the bus service really that bad at PORS? especialy if you have someone with an ECV?

4. What are some good buildings (besides 14, 18, and 27) to ask for in Alligator Bayou?

5. How hard is it to get a room in Alligator Bayou if you are not a family of five?

6. How far are the mansions from the main building? How many minutes walking?

7. How large is it compared to say POP or CSR?

1. Walking at a decent rate, ten minutes TOPS if you're meandering along. I seem to remember that to walk around the entire "river" including the "bus bridge" takes us approx 18 minutes at a stroll. Keep in mind that the main building (food court, lobby, store, bar, restaurant) are located centrally geographically at the moderate resorts. AND there are often faster ways to get from point A to point B than just walking around the main water thing (river, lake, whatever). Furthest building = Parterre Place (in my opinion).

2. Depends on hotel occupancy. If there aren't a lot of people waiting for buses, 1st stop = POFQ, 2nd stop = outside Fulton's General Store @ POR, buses continue clockwise around POR and exit between POR and POFQ. If there are a lot of people, we've seen them fill up a bus and call for a new bus to go to the next stop.

3. Bus service @ Disney World isn't HORRID all day every day at any time of the year. Bus service can be trying if you're going for peak times (between 9 and 10 am, immediately rushing out at park closing, the week before or after Easter, the week before Christmas & the week between Christmas and New Years, etc...)

4. Don't know, we've stayed in the mansions every time.
5. Don't know

7. We've stayed at CSR, CBR, POR and POFQ MANY times; I think that the walking at POR is very tolerable. In fact, given how beautiful the grounds are, I prefer the walk there to POFQ (everyone says it's small and lovely AND it is, but it's also small and congested sometimes, seems like you have to walk around your elbow to get to your behind some days). CSR and CBR definitely "seem" like longer walks [keep in mind that we walk 6 to 7 miles a day BECAUSE WE LIKE IT], so it isn't the distance that bugs us, it's the convenience when we want a cup of coffee or something.

I can't answer all your questions, but I can answer some of them. We stayed in Parterre Place, one of the mansions, in January. It was a very convenient location!! The river was right outside our room so we could open the curtains and watch the boats going back and to from DTD. It was very quiet and relaxing too. Very serene. Just out our door and about 15 steps to the right was the bridge across the river. Then about 2 minutes (max) walk to the main building and the marina. If we went around the front of the building, we were at the bus stop.

We waited there for about 5 minutes one time, but that was the longest wait. We only shared a bus with other stops once too. The rest of the time, we went straight to our destination. The buses were not bad at all! Certainly not as bad as when we stayed at the Swan.

POR is not as big as CSR. It may be about the same size or a little more spread out than POP, but we didn't walk to the farthest building since we were so close. There are great walkways though by the river that would be fine for ECVs.

I can't tell you about AB because we wanted the mansions. They are lovely!!! DH said that is his favorite resort!! He loved it!!! DH didn't even know there was an AB section. DS17 thought the pools were pretty good too, even at midnight!

We will definitely be staying in the mansions again!!

The bus service is subjective no matter where you stay. All the resorts have gone through testing to make sure they are equally efficient. The problem is the people and timing. If wheelchair people are getting on, it obviously slows the buses down. Also, if you just miss the bus each time, or just catch the bus each time, your experience is going to be completely different.

Thanks! We are really interested in Alligator Bayou though. We live in the south and I can see real homes that look just like the PORS mansions (or even better) less than a mile from my house.

Y'know it's funny... We resisted staying at POR and POFQ for years because we're from the south (originally NC) -- and we thought "eh, want to see something different"

Surprisingly, POR and POFQ are our favorite resorts...

I stayed at POR AB two years ago May, party of 4 and had no problem getting a AB with trundle bed.

I don't want a trundle bed, just wondered if maybe they saved the Alligator Bayou section for famlies who might need those trundle bed. Thanks!
