Porky’s 40th Anniversary

I was 15, probably saw it many times in the movie theater (in the middle of town, movies stayed forever but there wasn’t much else to do at that age, porkys was good clean fun, better than boones farm in the parks.

Just the words 'Boones Farm' give me a phantom 30 year old hangover :scared:

As to Porky's -
Man, haven't seen that movie in forever & a day. I'd almost be afraid to watch it again, in case it didn't hold up to my teenage memories!

Back to Kim Cattrall for a second.

Just thinking about this movie makes me start chuckling. I guess I have never outgrown this kind of raunchy humor, still funny to me today. I'd rather this than movies where people get killed/chopped into little pieces! Now those, you can keep!

I watched the movies on HBO probably since I rarely got to the movies in the 80’s. I was busy with 3 little ones. I do know I loved them but I do have on off beat sense of humor. What shocked me was my brother telling me he walked in on my parents watching the movie. He walked back out as he was a bit uncomfortable. He said my mom was laughing which was a bit shocking to us.

Now I need to see them again.

Strawberry vs. apple, always a tough choice for my $2.

I like Boone’s Farm Apple Blossom wine back in college and as a young adult.

As for ladies being offended by cheap wine, I was in a liquor store on Secretary’s Day about 1984. Excuse me, Administrative Professionals Day.

Some 60ish businessman bought about 6 bottles of Boone’ Farm and I overheard him tell the cashier they were for his “girls” at the office. Come on, if you insist on being cheap, at least spend another buck for Gallo or Italian Swiss Colony.

I hope they quit after seeing how much the boss appreciated them.

Oh man did this movie ever make me cringe. Count me among those that just don't find things like this entertaining. But then, I really don't find very many movie comedies funny.
My husband and I are so opposite, he often enjoys movies comedies but hates "sitcoms", I enjoy sitcoms but have never laughed at a comedy movie. Movie comedies seem crueler, somehow.

What about old timey comedies? Some Like It Hot is a great one if you're into the old stuff. Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis. It felt like a template for many later romantic/buddy comedies.
Now that I think about it, it may not have nudity and crass humor like Porky's, but SLIH wasn't too conservative for it's time either.

In the article I read it said they had to cut a few scenes to avoid an X rating. I guess that was before the NC-17 rating existed.

Which reminds me. Growing up my parents subscribed to the Catholic Archdiocese weekly newspaper. They had their own ratings for films, one of which was “Condemned,” unsuitable for ALL. You will definitely go straight to hell if you see these films. It would be worse than killing the Pope.

Of course that just wanted to make me see them, but alas, I was way too young.

Ah, yes, The Catholic Legion of Decency ratings.

I used to like reading those lists and wanted to see the Condemned films.

Some Like It Hot was one of them. Carrie, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Grease, and others also.

And of course all hard core pornography.

Im not Catholic, but has anyone tried to watch as many of these as possible in a week then go to confessional? Just thinking it might make a boring job a little more exciting for the priest ..you know, much better than “I borrowed my friends pen and didn’t give it back”

A while back AMC or some other channel had a 24 hour marathon of some of those Condemned films. Most if not all are tame by today’s standards.
