Hi everyone! Just booked our August vacation for Port Orleans, French QUarter, yay!

My question is... we getting a regular standard room. Which building might be a good location to request, pretty central for the bus and the pool.

Thank you in advance!!! Dana

We stayed in building 3 (requested to be close to transportation on our reservation) and it was seriously steps away from the bus stop AND the food court. Perfect location for when we were limping back to our room after a long day in the parks.

POFQ is so small, I don't think there are any bad locations. We like to stay in building 5 which is close to the river. Still, it was just a couple of minutes to walk to the food court or bus stop. It was also fairly close to the place to catch the boat to dtd. You'll love the French Quarter. It is our favorite moderate by far!!

I've previously stayed in building 7, top floor corner room. Such a great room, very open feeling with the double windows. I'm back again in five weeks and have requested very much the same except for requesting building 6 this time.

Like disneychic said, French Quarter is small. It really doesn't matter which building you're in, you're going to be close to everything, and particularly close to something.

That being said, if you want the closest, most centrally located rooms, you will probably find them in building 2. Those rooms are right next to the pool and right between the ferry dock to Downtown Disney and the front building that houses the food court, bar, front desk and gift shop.

Building 7 would probably be the furthest away from everything, but it is also the building closest to Riverside, so they all have their perks, and like I said, none of them are particularly far from any other point in the resort.

By the way, here's a map of both resorts to give you an idea of where everything is: http://www.portorleans.org/maps-and-directions.php

IF you ask for a corner room, you will get and extra window, and it will really brighten the room, and make it seem larger.

It's the one resort where location really doesn't matter, due to its delightfully compact size. Looking at a map, of course some rooms are closer to the action than others, but it truly doesn't matter.

I like to use this analogy. If you consider the Queen of England, Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey, Oprah would be the poorest person in that group, but she's not exactly poor if you know what I mean. It's the same with POFQ rooms ... there are some that are the farthest from the action, but they still are very very close.

We have stayed there twice, Bldg 2 and Bldg 6.. Loved Bldg 6 we had the corner room and yes it made you feel like your room was larger with the extra window. Enjoyed taking the boat ride to DTD.
:thumbsup2

We stayed at bldg #5 and #3 twice. Both are just fine. Both are close to the transportation and the food court. I  POFQ!! My favorite moderate resort!! Enjoy your stay!
