DAY 1, MAY 11, TUESDAY
My Dad drove us to Logan, as he always does since he’s such a nice guy. Our plane left at 8:15am and we landed on time at 11:15 or so. Retrieved our luggage and walked over to National, picked out a 4 door car and drove off. I used the driving directions from Deb’s Site with a grocery stop at Publix. That’s one nice supermarket!! So clean and neat. The reason for the car was the price was pretty much the same as a car service and I didn’t want to do Mears ever again! We’ve used them on 3 earlier trips and they just take longer and longer. The car rental was $126, but since I was late; it went to $143. But, still worth it for the experience alone. Next time I’ll actually use the car to go somewhere besides the airport and Publix. The car stayed in the FQ parking lot the entire time.
Check in was a breeze at FQ. No one in line waiting. I asked for Building 5 and we got that, room 5203, pool view room. I booked standard room at AP rate of $74/night. Oh my, these rooms are beautiful!!! We both love them. Our room was ready; we went and checked it out, looked around a bit, moved the car to the regular parking and rolled our bags back to the room. I think they should have 2 elevators per building. One doesn’t seem like enough, it took forever to get to it. It was way at the end of the building on the side closest to the river. We unpacked and off we went!! Yea!!!!
Our first park for this trip was MGM. We went to activate our AP’s over at Guest Relations and ran into a little problem. Just little. I purchased 1 AP at a Disney Store, after price increase and the other on-line before increase. It just messed up the CM a little and he needed some help from his manager. It probably just took 15 minutes. I bought a new camera case, smaller; with Mickey on it for my camera. Rode Great Movie Ride, looks really nice and new now, but the same. It’s one of DS’s favorites. Off to lunch at Mama’s Melrose really wanted the Mushroom Risotto. Oh, my! They don’t have it anymore!! What a bummer. But, I was able to get a side of some other Risotto they were having, Milanese? Kinda spicy, but good. I had calamari, which was very good and very abundant! DS had a personal size pepperoni pizza and declared it “the best Pizza ever”! Total was $29.00, pizza $12.00, calamari $5.99 and that huge side risotto was only $1.00!! Went off to Millionaire, last show of the day. The man next to me was the highest scorer in the last round, but since it was over; he didn’t get to play. He was bummed but excited that he was 1st. I made DS go to the Little Mermaid Show since we had never seen it and basically I wanted to see it. It was cute and fun. He even conceded, “It was ok”. Lolol Went back to FQ to drop off my left over risotto (told you they gave me tons!) picked up my jacket and off to MK by 8pm. I think MK was open to 10pm tonight, regular schedule. No lines tonight. Rode BTMR, Splash M, Pooh, Space M., saw the new Wishes fireworks (awesome), saw Philharmagic, OMG is that wonderful!!! Since it was so late, there were probably only about 50 people in there and the theatre holds over 200! We stopped at the Main Street Bakery and shared an apple, raisin, and walnut piece of square cake/pie? It was sooooo yummy! Off to the bus, came right away; and home to FQ and bed. I didn’t get to sleep until 1am!! Putting things away and getting ready for morning so we can get up and out quickly. I do that every night, empty out the backpack (DS responsibility to carry the entire trip, but I pack it and unpack it daily), put out clothes for the next day, restock on $$, put away receipts, gifts, whatever we bought during the day; and THEN I can go to bed. Tired but happy.
YEA!!! WE’RE IN DISNEY AT PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER!!!!!
