HI,

I'm wondering if I made the wrong choice by booking the POR, some reports and threads such as at mouseplanet.com have said that POR is looking run-down. Please tell me some good recent experiences you've had. Thanks

hi,
We just stayed there in Mid August and loved it.
We found all areas to be very clean and well kept.
We did not notice any renovation going on.
The grounds are beautiful and it was a very kid friendly resort also.
The boat to DTD is great. Like a ride in itself.

I wouldn't listen to every little grumble that you hear, I have read bad things about the deluxe resorts also. And the All stars, and the CSR, and the CBR. . . (see what I mean?)

Hope you have a great time!
I would be happy to answer any specific questions.

Donna

:p DW and I stayed there last Sept. in AG 14 and loved POR. Room, grounds, pool, food court, all in great shape. We liked it so much that we are staying there again this Dec. 12-14.:p

POR is my favorite so far. We loved the convenience of their food court, the uncrowded quiet pools, laundry facilities close by, the wildlife all around, the landscaping. I can't wait to go back next summer. Just keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion on what they expect out of a resort, what's wonderful to some, is dissapointing to others. Have a super trip!!

I haven't been to POR in too long (Dec. 2002) and it's still too long until I'll be there again (12/2/03), but it's my favorite resort at WDW. Some people will complain about any resort, but I've been there several times and have always been thrilled with it.

I love POR..I have stayed there 2 yrs in a row, latest being Dec, 2002.

I was in the Magnolia Terrace, 3rd floor. It was immaculate. My room looked as if it was refurbished. The bathroom caulking was brand new, the rug was new, nothing looked worn out.

I love that resort. Take the time explore the grounds. Rent a bike if you can, its alot of fun and you can go the front and back of each mansion and all through alligator bayou.

Ill be at WL this time cause I always wanted to go there and FTP was hard to pass up for a deluxe.

I definitely understand your worry. My DH and I stayed at POR in Aug and I had read all of the negative stuff too! I think you hear more about a bad experience than a good one. We had a wonderful time at POR. Our room was clean, there was no peeling wallpaper or missing lightbulbs or missing dresser knobs and Mousekeeping did a great job. We stayed in Acadian House in the Mansion section. Don't worry it's a lovely resort and you will have a great time there. Besides, who doesn't have a wonderful time a Disney!! :D

first mickey &/or mkbroas:

Did you notice if all of the food court is open, specifically the counter next to the bakery? It used to serve taco salads, nachos, ceasar salads, ribs, chicken, mashed potaots, & corn.
Also, were all of the bus stops being used, or just the South depot by the main building? Thanks so much. (We're due to arrive in 2 weeks!:) )

TWOOD,
yes it is open. I had the taco salad and it was good!
All of the other foods you listed were there too.

All of the bus stops were open. We would use the NOrth Depot closest to Acadian Mansion. I would really recommend using another bus stop beside the busy South Depot in the AM. It was always the last picked up before going to the parks and it was always the busiest. People would always stand on the way to the parks.

first mickey,
Thanks! I'm so excited now! I was actually thinking of changing us to Coronado Springs... Thanks for getting back with me so quickly.:D
